The 12480033 kit comes with the right springs and retainers.

15-25hp increase is very realistic, depending on the rest of your combo.

Personaly I like the cam ive seen people make good power with it however there are cam making more power like the tr-224 ...its not a bad cam but there are some other more cost effective cams to consider. if u get it for cheap then go for it.

The original motor in my old car made 365 rwhp and 362 lbft with the stock 98 shortblock at around 100,000 miles, hotcam, 1998 LS1 intake, loudmouth catback, TSP airlid, stock 3.23 rear gear, and stock wheels. The car was an A4 with a stock stall. This is much more than a 15 - 25 hp gain. Plus a friend of mine with the same mods, plus having an LS6 intake b/c his car was an 02 model and being a 6speed, made 375rwhp and 370 lbft with the hotcam. Its a great cam if you dont want to lose much mpg and you want big cam sound without going huge. However, if you ever want to change later, you might as well and go a little bigger now. I loved it, until I got used to it, then I went bigger.

I've had five cams in my old ls1. I went smaller then wanted more and more. I found that my old 224 cam didn't drive much different then my g5x3 cam around town. With a good tuner You can go more cam,get more power and drive great around town. The LG Motorsports g5x1(I think it's a 228/232) would drive stock(ish)and give you more power. Don"t worry about going more and later you'll be happy you did. By the way,I have ran a MTI 222/222 cam and LG Motorsports g5x1,x2,x3 and x4 cam's only the x4 cam gave me a little bucking the rest all drove smooth.

we use the hot cam on alot of our daily drivers. There is power left on the table in comparision to some others we have installed. However, we have alot of our customers are looking that are looking for a daily driver that does not require a noisy valve spring upgrade. These cams do really well and have a long valve spring life with the ones provided. We sell this set-up at the dealership for our customers that are worried about the longevity of the vehicle. It is a breeze to tune and makes power everywhere. It is a very mild set-up that with a good tune is as civilized as they come. That being said if you do not mind a little noisier valve train there is a ton of better cams for power under the curve...

ok thats what i wanted to know. and as far as the 241 heads i didnt swap them out my friend had the car before me and it has an oil leak so he took it to the dealer and they dropped a fresh updated ls1 in there so its got the 241s over the 853s that i think they came with in 98. but yea right now i was just looking for a little bit bigger of a cam nothing major.

This belongs in the Gen 3 section. But I ran a hot cam for a little bit. But it just wasn't enough. Sounded pretty stock and drove pretty stock. Now I have a T-Rex, not very stock.
