Why are they making a SC'ed engine making LESS power than the SC'ed Vette that's been out for a couple years.

It's estimated at 625hp...the ZR1 had 638hp...the LT4 will surely be rated higher when "official". Just like the ZL1 that was originally rated at "about 550hp", but it ended up with 585hp and the 2013 GT500 was "estimated" significantly lower than 662hp as well. Car makers do this every time they release a new performance vehicle.

I'm guessing at least 650hp in the production LT4.

Sounds like its going to be rated low like the old vettes rated at 425 and actually made over 550 (L-88). Or like the Gn with 245 hp. Just add a spring on the waste gate and a little octaine and WoW. I read somewhere that there is going to be an all out e-85 vette In showrooms soon. 201?

that's awesome what they did with the LT4 engine, even more impressive is the 8 speed auto that will be offered in the z06 as well

Lsa/ls9 are both on 4.060 bores and 6.125 (pretty sure) rods and use ls3 style blocks

Default LSA block (was LT4 coversation)

Pretty sure the LSA block has piston oil cooling too (so it can't be the same as the LS3).

LS9 is different since it has different cylinder head bolt thread sizes than the other Gen IV engines.

Now back the Gen V related LT4 discussion. 8-)

The ZL1 was originally estimated off the LSA in the CTSV at 556hp, but with it's better exhaust and electric power steering it ended up making 580hp

The model is what matters here. You now have the lower Z06 model making the same power as the previous ZR1. And a helluva lot more than the previous Z06.

Did anyone complain when the base C6 made less N/A power than a C5Z that had been out for a couple of years? No.

Negative. The LSA in the CTS-V and ZL1 share the TVS1900 blower.

The ZL1's blower is technically larger, even if they share the same displacement rotor pack. The plenum is MUCH larger in key areas around where the air turns and goes through the aftercooler
