Join us over on the gen v facebook page. We have a list of parts that are similar.
In short, the l83 crank is the same casting strength as the gen 4 stuff.
However the lt1 version is fully forged and induction hardened with the same dimensions as the l83.
So you can drop in the better rods and crank from a lt1 and maintain the thick cylinder walls of the l83.

In addition, all the Gen. 3/4/5 engine spec sheets and upgrade guides can be found on the Summit Racing Customer Service FAQ section. Just type in the Engine Code into the search bar and the articles will show up.

https://summitracing.custhelp.com/

Next, these are being shared with the OnAllCylinder.com at the rate of one per week through the remainder of 2018. The L83 article is here: http://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/0...am-specs-more/

Just buy an l86. It will be cheaper and a quick turnaround.

There's no way buying an entire L86 is cheaper than boring a block and buying a set of OE pistons. The turn around time will mostly be on me, i'll be doing the work, except the boring of the block.

Have you priced L86's? I have.

Good to know, just bought an LT1 crank and rods. Cheap.

I am adding a Texas speed +32% fuel cam and a whipple.

So anyone done the LT1 crank and rods in an L83? If so, what pistons did you use?
