point i was trying to make is some ppl want there cars to look good, and fuction good also. sure, installing a electric cut out is the best for performance if using a cut out, but not all ppl want that.

I need some opinions please.... so after my trans was built and lasted a week it went out.. its now back at the shop being repaired... if it goes after this time should I just swap a t56 into it or get rid of it while I can? I still owe 6-7K on it... I've been looking a buying another GTO and I found a great deal on a 04 that I'm very close to picking up, but I need to make a decision on the SS first..

I would say no to a 04 GTO. I would get a different auto or something.

I talked to Brian.. He think I should just drop a t56 into the car since the motor is pretty strong.. What would I be looking at in finding one?

You'd need the tranny, pedals all the lines. Most likley a new driveshaft. Then idk how the computers are on these cars but on mine if I switch I either A need a new computer or B run a stand alone.

It's not bad. I've done the swap several times. Pedals/clutch assemble/hydraulics/trans/crossmember/console/shifter are the big things. You can re use your driveshaft and need someone with hp tuners to put a 6 speed tune in. Also a little wiring for the reverse lockout and lights. Depending on what you find it's all around $2k-2.5k.

dee- to do it right you will need what ssmoked1 said plus an m6 engine wiring harness if you dont want to cut yours to make it work. I know the 4l60 isnt super strong but dam it only lasted a week? Im thinking there might be some issues with the rebuild. ask shawn what the m6 involves he did one on his black camaro.

shawn- I was trying to save him some money but i guess if he is looking to trade it doesnt matter. btw, one reason i have 900hp is because i still have the exhaust on my car that was on it when i bought it. I didnt dump 2k in a full system, you can dam near buy a whole used vortech s/c kit for that. The cutout method is 200 bucks and as i said if you leave a quiet muffler on the back there will be no rasp or drone on long trips just sweet ls1 lulabyes hahaha

the swap is easy dee. i used a m6 wiring harness and computer tho. everything SSmoked1 said is what you need. find someone in the for sale section to trade you set ups. thats what i did. reverse lock out and reverse lights are no big deal, pretty sure i have a wiring diagram somewhere

I think I'm going to really look into doing this. Once I get my car back I may just let it sit until I can find someone to trade me set ups. I guess I should of done this the first time the trans went, but I really thought the trans would hold up. What kind of trans do I need to look for a stock one with a decent clutch or what?
