Picture of a 2004 U.S. GTO???
Well it's just an idea since the car's official U.S. design has not been completed yet . There's a guy on the SLP forum (C6Firebird) who has been working on a few possibilities (like the one above) that are better than that hacked up Motor Trend picture that has been in circulation.
Check it out:

The current Holden/HSV GTO and GTS are cars that are produced for Holden and it's current markets only. The '04 GTO for the U.S. is supposed to be different. Lutz has said they are going to be taking Monaro Coupe's and changing the front end and grill to look more Pontiac. This design will not officially be released until next year's Auto Show, we can only try to speculate on what this will actually look like. Remember this car is going to be a Pontiac and not a Holden. Just like the Dodge Stealth is a Dodge and not a Mitsubishi .
But I do agree with your thoughts on the G8, beautiful car! But it is another great idea that GM will never put into production . It is the Monaro/'04 GTO that they are putting their money into.

I'm sure Lutz and company won't let us down...
I hope they leave the interiors how they are because its simply badass...kind of luxury compared to the F-body...

BTW- Did anyone do the HP conversion for the Holden LS1's?
255kw = 342HP
300kw = 402HP
HSV also has a 6.2 Liter LS6 that pumps out 470HP
in this:

Their HRT Ute.
Chevy could use an El Camino SS .
I just hope they don't go too overboard trying to give this car too much of a pontiac identity.

True wisdom. I agree.

Just a point to note - in Oz the GTO is actually lower spec than the GTS. Both of these vehicles are produced by HSV which is a separate manufacturer with very close ties to GMH.
The Monaro that goes to the US will be the base model CV8 that GMH will produce. No doubt GM will then develop their own body kits, chips and more than likely internal appointments. The base models are very 'plain' as far as I'm concerned but there is huge potential for body kit development to change the look considerably.
As far as vision? This wouldn't be a problem. The Monaro is basicly the same body as the Commodore, Ute, wagon, Berlina and Statesman (apart from the obvious - number of doors and load space!). All that happens is motor specs, trim and appointments are changed for each model.
