Yeah, we were across the return road from you to start. We had the multi-colored primer 65 El Camino. After it rained, we moved up closer to the staging lanes where we could park the car on asphalt.

Here is an excerpt of what i posted about the event to our build thread....

We had a great time as a whole for the trip, but the way the event is run leaves a lot to be desired.

Getting INTO the track Friday morning was a cluster.

NOBODY with an EVENT STAFF T-shirt on that we asked questions of could give us an answer, OR had a radio so they could ask the question for us.

Loud speakers in the pits are virtually non existent and we did not have a radio to listen to the broadcast. Because of that, we missed a qualifying pass. We'll have a radio with us from now on.

Evidently, you have to actually VISIT the timing tower to make sure the women there enter you into the RIGHT index class instead of just posting the index on your window. WHICH CLEARLY COULD BE SEEN BY ALL!

We ended up losing first round, we ran an 11.99 on a 15 second index. My fault for not checking my index on the finish line scoreboard. Turns out, we weren't the only ones they did that to. From what we heard, about 6 or 7 others lost first round the same way.

I would agree that $125 is a little stiff if you are only there for one day. On the other hand, my son and I both got in and were able to race and see the sites for all three days for the same $125. The powers that be should probably visit that.

I will push the grudge racing idea hard for next year.

I'll get more deets on the West race.

Reading the other feedback comments.

Crowds love burnout contests.
Stationary gets a little boring. Give them a lot to do donuts in for 30 seconds and you'll draw a crowd.

Okay I will also put Burnout contest on the list of ideas for 2017.

Racing ends because (a) staff are tired and have not had a real break and (b) adds to cost.

I think racing Saturday night should go to 10PM when we have maximum spectators.

just keep the Mustangs away... burnouts & crowds brings out the worst instincts in the little horses.

Speaking of, the burnout contests they do at Mustang Week are what I'm talking about. Its not just sitting still making smoke, they let them spin and do donuts. Australian burnout contest style. Crowd reaction decides winner. They're a lot of fun to do/watch.

Haven't been back to the track since BG,, we ran 11.94 in the heat. the tires were spinning on the rim about 2" each launch,, I've done some more tuning and got rid of my super rich launch(9.0afr) and added some timing up top,, I was hoping to get a low 7 pass before winter,, I've just been driving around on the street and making some long distance cruises,, with a 3.08 gear it just lumbers along at 1800rpm at 70mph.. Thanks for the props!!

True... add some and that's what happens.

BG law enforcement is pretty cool about it too. We had one guy arrested but only because he tried to run.

Waybad,

That was my dad and I that were pitted next to you. We got screwed out of the first round but our scenario was the opposite of Eklydragger. The person that we ran first round had 12.00 on damn near every window of his car therefore we figured that he was in the 12.00 index, but he had failed to go to the tower to declare an index therefore he was placed in the 15.00 index. After the tree came down for the other car, dad left thinking that the tree had malfunctioned.

I went to the tower and talked to the not so kind lady with the NMCA shirt on, and was simply and in a very smartass tone advised that this is not bracket racing and the guy could have written whatever he wanted to on his window. This was a truly crappy way to have been treated, but we will be back and you can bet your *** he'll be watching the times on the boards before moving into the beams.

Oh and by the way it was good to meet you and your friend. Tell him that we will see him next fall (hahaha).

No burnout contest,
We just do the car show pack, but they need to go back to bracelets for us. Trying to keep track of the ticket stub sucks...
