New Evo To LS1

New Evo To LS1
Hey guys my Evo is basically sold and will be gone next Saturday....
It was a 2006 Evo IX with full bolt-ons stock turbo.... 11.90 car....
I am now in the market for a Camaro Z28.... I'm looking to spend in the $12K neighborhood... There was no point of me owning a $30k car that I was trying to make a race car.... I believe an LS1 car will be a better and cheaper platform to play with.... Also I wont have payments so I can throw a lot more money at the Camaro...
This car will be my track and weekend cruiser car.... I will be doing a lot of highway pulls also....
What mods would you guys recommend for me??? I want something that can be a DD and pull low 11s in 1/4 mile...
Also need a setup that will be good for highway pulls because everyone in my area usually races from a roll....
If there is a FAQ section some one please point me to the thread...
Heres some pics of my Evo....

Nice Evo. You should look in the forced induction section. A procharger or turbo set-up is probably what you are looking for. Don't forget the 10 bolt rear will need to be upgraded to a 9 inch or 12 bolt to handle any real power. Same with the tranny if you get the A4. Not sure about the M6's limitations being that I've got a stalled auto.

Thanks...
I hear the M6 holds more power and trap a little higher.... So I'm looking for an M6..... I think F/I is a little to much.... I was thinking H/C and a little bit of N2O... Upgraded rear end and nice set of drag rims for slicks....
But I don't know what size cam I should be looking for, what rear end, what slicks, etc..... That what I need help on...

If it's a weekend car and you're looking to do this on a budget, heads/cam/bolt-ons/N20 is for you. The 10 second M6 cars with this setup usually trap in the 125-130 range.

If you looking for a highway roll racing. LS engine are the ****. Where do you live ?
I have a ls2 GTO which in a roll race kills 600cc street bikes. I was putting out over 758RWHP mostly STOCK ENGINE when i lost a rod thinking it was a head gasket issues (wish i spent 200 bucks for arp head studs.)

Well I was running 10.80 @ 128 with a 100 shot and a TR230/224 reverse split cam, boltons, a spec stage 4, 4.30 geared 9" and suspension, put down 400rwhp on motor and somehow 542 on a "100" shot...
but basically it was a good, fast, cheap reliable combo, you dont need heads.
oh yeah and the signature info and pic.... all from that setup, I own a turbocharged disaster now =D check it out in my albums

Greetings,
Welcome to LS1Tech.
We have a great community on our forum here.
That's a really nice Evo you had there.
The 2006 was the best and last of the CT9 platform.
I went from a Wicked White 2005 Evolution GSR to a LS1 powered car.
I had my Evo for two years but it's been about two years since I have
purchased my Firebird.
One thing great about 1998 to 2002 F-bodies is that parts are plentiful and reasonably priced with alot of choices. Plus these cars are easier to work on then the Evo's in a lot of respects. Fuel mileage isn't bad either.
Have fun and enjoy your whatever you decide to buy.

I'm looking for a 2000 Z28, for some reason I just like how the Z28 looks compared to the SS.... How are the used parts sections for these cars? I never had a problem buying used bolt-on parts for the Evo...
BTW I still have the Evo but there's a guy from Minnesota picking it up from a week today..

There are alot of car choices for sale here and autotrader.
The used parts sections are real good for these cars.
The main thing is to use common sense on who you deal with.
And beware ... the mod bug hits hard here too.

Good choice, if your not familar with RWD get used to it first before you easily make 500 ftlbs.
Get yourself a 12bolt or 9 inch with 4.10s and as everyone else said, heads, cam, intake, long tube headers, or skip heads and cam and get a pro charger.
