Hi I'm new to the forum. Name is Nathan and I drive a 1990 nissan 240sx. Dont hate on me because it's not a F-body. I joined here because I am in the process of buying and installing a 2000 camaro ss ls1 in my car. Just wanted to say hi to everybody. Will have pics of my car up as soon as all this snow is gone. Oh! I am from Hurt, Virginia.

hopefully....specially since its a 5.7 and not one of the smaller ones. will deff take some time to drop in. specially with low funds. it is gonna be N/A. i dont believe in boost lol. its already a built motor. but has slightly spun bearings. so i gotta rebuild...just dont know what needs to be replaced.

well hurry up and get that 240SX put together so you can have you a beast of a car....IMO your going to have a hard time finding a tire/wheel big enough to handle all that extra power in a car that small... I have seen people put LSx engines in 280z's and such and still break it loose at like 85mph....wait that was on here wasn't it!! LOL

iv done some research on that lol.....theres a few people over on 240sxforums.com that have done the swap without that problem. i know i need to get a custom driveshaft made cuz i will be using the 240 rearend. there are a few places that iv found that can make up. now my question is which is better carbonfiber or an aluminum drive shaft? i know i can get an aluminum one made for cheaper but which will be stronger?

k i reckon i will go with the carbon fiber then. gonna cost about $500 to have it custom made. will probably pay for itsself in the long run with a longer time of usage to the aluminum.

Worst case scenario, is you snap your CF drive shaft and it "cleans up" your undercarriage, whereas if you broke an aluminum one, your looking at tearing up everything it touches...

When/If you manage to break a CF driveshaft, the end result is comparable to that of an old fashion straw broom.. It makes that kind of effect at the point of failure, due to the fact its comprised of millions of tiny fibers that are bound together....

So the if you manage to break one, it works like a high speed "buffer" and could theoretically shine up the underside of your car rather then obliterating everything it touches if it were made of any type of metal..

This was the explanation more or less given to me, and after watching a "how its made" about Carbon fiber, I would have to say its probably true.

For drag days, you cant beat a stalled auto, if you like slamming through gears though go with the T56. I personally like both, but I got tired of shifting gears driving through town when I was driving around in a T56 so I just put it in third and didn't bother shifting up or down while in town....lol

yeah auto would be good for drag. but the 240 would lose alot of prowess without a manual tranny. how much more work is it to do an auto rather than the 6spd?
