1979 gmc k2500
Hey guys and gals, new here. I'm thinking of installing an LS1 with a manual throttle body in my 1979 GMC K2500 with a turbo 400. Any guidance would be great. I have the engine, the wiring harness and ecu. Is it with it?

welcome aboard. its worth converting. existing radiator will work just get hoses for newer truck 6.0. fuel system you can run 87 tank first year injected and put a pump with enough pressure in it or run corvette pump/ filter combo. LT1Swap.com has what to do to wiring harness to work. he also programs pcm as well. get the throttle cable from newer truck it should transfer over. look over into conversion/ hybrid section several on there now.

totally worth it, makes the truck so much more enjoyable? need more info though like whats your goal with the truck? if its a cruiser or a tow rig id almost buy a 5.3 or a 6.0 and save the ls for a go fast car

Thanks. I'm really just trying to make the truck more drivable. It's all wheel drive which is also being changed. Maybe a stock 5.3 or 6.0 is a better idea and I can put the LS in my 69 C10. Thanks for the suggestions guys you just cost me more $$$$$ LOL

well if I had to choose for gas milage reason only I would go the 5.3. If want little more power the 6.0 but I get 10mpg in my 03 GMC 2500 Hd 4x4. my dad has a 04 1500 4x4 Silverado gets 16-19mpg depends on driving habits.
