New Ls enthusiast
Hi I'm a new member to ls1tech but not new in terms to reading and following threads at this forum. I enjoy working on my 95 240sx that's currently powered by a rb25 and natural progression has led me to wanting a ls based motor. I am mechanically inclined and love learning new things and look forward to becoming part of the ls1tech community.

Sup bud....Zenki LS1 swap here. Lots of guys swapping over to the LSx based motors so the info is now becoming readily available. Not sure what your plans are but the Fueled Racing and Sikky Swap kits make things a hell of a lot easier. As does the Wiring Specialties harness. If you have any questions dont hesitate.

Planning on doing a lq9 with ls6 cams and ls6 intake maybe ls6 valve springs and retainers. Aiming for 350-400whp.

Nice dude. If you are staying NA why not pay a little extra and get something that will maximize your setup a bit more. There are usually 10-20 cams on here going for great prices. Also, im sure its overkill but why not upgrade the springs and retainers to something like BTR or PAC? Again just something to think about since you are already gonna be in there. At the moment i picked up the BTR Spring Kit, BTR Trunion Upgrade, and waiting to find a nice cam for my LS1.

I am looking for something streetable and also doesn't get the attention of law enforcement. I plan on getting it tuned via hp tuner, what heads cam do you recommend? Also where's a good place to source a t56.

I think your best bet to get appropriate cam or head advice talk to Brian (BTR) or Martin (Tick)....both are super helpful.
Man....the T56 are becoming more of a pain to find. Keep checking on here or Craigslist. If you have the extra cash Tick has some quality rebuilds depending on your goal. Where are you located.

From Cali but what would you pay for a used t56. I found one for sale for 2k, owner claims it has 100k on it, is this a good buy or do you think I should talk him down I really don't want to pay 2k for a transmission?

@TUSKY....oh damn. Where have I been?
The going rate seems to be between $1500-2200 depending on mileage, condition, Fbody vs GTO, and what would be included. The bellhousing alone goes for $200+. Yeah it sucks paying that much for a used Trans. If you can find a good TR6060 in that price range I would rather choose that T56.

LS1 Bellhousing, appropriate Slave Cylinder, appropriate length drive shaft, modified/custom trans mount, and Sikky or other adjustable shifter to compensate for the difference (unless you can weld your own stuff). Sounds like a lot of work but its really not too bad.
I have seen people just plug the OEM trans cooler setup. Havent looked into it but cant see it being too bad.
