55' Chevy LS Newb in SoCal
Hello everybody,
I'm a SoCal native that loves all things with engines. I've been, a sportbike guy, a offroad guy, a 1/4 mile guy and now I'm a protouring guy. I've been lurking on this site for about a year now and finally made the move to joining. I am a member of Steves Nova Site and TriFive. I used to have the old school train of thought that EFI was not hot rod. I thought tuning carbs and making adjustments was part of it. After a year and a half with my 67' nova and many many carb headaches (not much of a carb tuner myself) I was fed up. I eventually ended up selling my hard top nova (Still regret letting her go) and after a couple cars, ended up in a 1955 Chevy Bel Air Hard Top (second favorite classic next to the nova). Love the car but it had a very very tired and leaky 350. Buddy ended up almost giving me a 5.3 with a PSI harness and ECU. After I started doing my research I was excited. Tore the car down and what started off as a motor swap ended up in a major project. After 4 months, I did a shortened 9" with Currie axles, aluminum Yukon 3rd member, aluminum 1350 yoke, Tru-Trac posi, 3:90 gears, custom drive shaft, Aeromotive stealth EFI tank, Aeromotive FPR, black braided AN fuel line and fittings, Global West upper and lower control arms, 2" forged drop spindles with C6 corvette 14" slotted and drilled rotors with powder coated calipers, all new brake lines, rewired car, aluminum crossflow radiator, 2-speed taurus fan, hydroboost setup with willwood maste cylinder and adjustable proportioing valve (the car stops!), converted to power steering, tilt column, dakota digital gauge cluster, american shifer tranny mount floor shifter (like Lokar but I think is better), 5.3 LM7 w/75,000 miles out of a 2000 GMC Yukon XL, smoothed intake, Hooker ceramic coated headers, built 4L60E, welded and smoothed firwall, relocated battery to trunk, 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust with X-pipe and magnaflows, 20x8.5" American Racing VN801 rims on all four corners, michelin pilot super sport tires, 1 3/8" hollow sway bar. I'm sure there are lots I'm forgetting. Alot was done in 4 months and was all done in my garage. I love the LS and cant see running a carb again! Still have a few thing to wrap up. Have a Radix MagnaCharger MP112 supercahrger sitting on the shelf waiting to go on in the next few weeks. Have a almost complete Accuair set up w/E-level (still on the fence about installing it, though the thought of the 55' on the ground does sound cool) and still need to do the triangulated 4-link in the rear.
Well that's it in a nutshell. I hope to become a part of this community and not just reap the knowledge, but contribute where I can as well. Thanks for having me!
Regards,
Jonathan

Ya maybe it won't be sign lol. Some forums are very clicky. I sure hope this one isn't. The nova forum on was on spoiled me. Best form I've been a member of yet. Well except for a nerdy aquarium forum I used to be a member in years ago haha

Thanks everyone!!
Here are some pics:
Was originally part of the Dukes low rider club
The guy went a little crazy with the chrome. Even cut the firewall out of another car, chromed it and screwed it on top of the existing one.
