IL Newb doing a restomod
Hey all, new guy from the burbs of Chicago I will be primarily lurking and reading up from others. I have a 71 Nova that I am restoring/modding. I just recently sold the motor/trans as I am looking to do a LS swap once I'm done cutting out rot and the modifications to the body/chassis.
Just putting in my formal introduction. Thanks

Here's how it looked when I bought it about 4 years ago, it had 3 layers of paint under that primer shown here, there was literally inches of bondo and tons of rust. Both rear quarters, inner outer wheel tubs, trunk floor and braces, floor pans, door skins and many other metal replacement items later it's almost done with the rust replacement. I'm working on smoothing the firewall on it now and then it's on to bodywork.

How it looked after I purchased it about 4 years ago, guy I bought it from had primer bombed the car just a few days before I bought it. There were 3 prior paint jobs under the primer, so it went Primer - Suzuki Gold - Red - Blue. The car originally was Sandalwood, 350 sbc and a 700r4 trans with a 8.5 10 bolt bench seat car.
Just another shot of it outside along with the binder of documentation from the car's life. Doesn't look half bad here, but looks are deceiving.
Over the last 4 years I have been steadily working a few hours a week to correct all the problems with the car, I literally have thousands of pictures of the progress. This is just a recent one before I pulled the motor/trans to sell. In those 4 years I have replaced both rear quarters, inner and outer wheel wells (mini tubbing the car while I was at it) trunk pan, fuel tank braces, drop off panels, passenger door and then patches on the drivers door and both front fenders. I also did the drivers floorpan (may still need to do the passenger while I am at it) and body mount plates for the subframe both front and rear.
Here is where I am today, I am putting in a smooth firewall as the old one was rotted and just looked bad. I still have to re-create where the brake booster and steering column go through the firewall. I also am relocating the wiper motor to the driver side cowl so it's hidden under the fender to give the firewall an even further clean look. I expect to be working on this for a few weeks yet before I can burn it all in.

ok very frustrating, tried to post a few pics again from flikr and the post are still stuck in moderation. Is this because it's the newbie section or is it just because of pictures?
