Default '97 Formula - New Member

I'm also a new member with a white '97 Formula convertible with an LT1 - all stock components.

Very clean car. The previous owner kept it in terrific shape. I just recently switched out the argent wheels for some chromes, but other than that, its original equipment.

Does anyone have any advice about a high pitch continuous "zing" while the engine is running? My wife hears it all the time, but I can only hear it in the garage. (I think that her hearing is a lot better than mine!)

My guess is that it is a pulley noise of some sort, but I'd be interested in any suggestions on how to isolate it and deal with it.

Welcome. Try the belt, then move on to the pulleys.

Welcome to the LT1 world. I just replaced a defective belt
tensioner on my car today. The pulley was vibrating off of the tensioner.
Mine made a high pitched "chirp" costantly, especially after the belt got warm.
There was also uneven wear on the pulley.

What color formula you got? Some pics too if ya got any.

It's white, but I don't have any digital photos yet. After the snow storm this weekend and when it finally gets nice again, I'll get some and send them to you.

Hey welcome I also have a white 97 formula. Check out the LT1 section like enisguy said. and the noise is most likely your tensioner pulley. Take a 13mm wrench or ratchet and socket to the bottom most pulley and try to tighten the bolt which will lossen the belt enough to pull it off then spin the pulley by hand. If it doesnt spin freely and quietly then theres your prob and you can use a 10mm to get the bolts for the tensioner loose to take it off.
