so check out the GTO, and drive both, and see what you like. If you want an auto but are unsatisfied with its 'get up and go', don't forget you can always swap out the rear gears. Alot of thse guys round here will tell you that if you aren't driving an M6, you aren't a 'real man' or something like that, but I would highly advise to drive both transmissions before you buy. On occasion I drive an M6 1981 Corvette around, and it's great, but I can't imagine doing it everyday stoplight to stoplight round here. But hey this is all just my $.02.

The 6-speed gets about 28 mpg.
If you enjoy 'driving' your cars, get the manual. Much higher fun factor to row thru the gears and be in complete control.
