Yet another rx7 swap (ls1/fd)
Forgot to do an intro so here goes.

Hobbies: Anything with a motor.
Did a ls1/fd swap about a year ago. Have been ragging the **** out of it for a little while now and love it. Its a clunky rattle trap that is fun as hell and gets almost 30mpg.
I came back to this site to research some cams. The rx7 is a totall sleeper right now, very quiet thanks to some trashy cheapy turbo mufflers. I'm thinking about changing all of that with a cam and new mufflers.
Also trying to learn some ways to wake up my '01 tahoe. Not looking for anything radical, just wanting some more pulling power. Gotta keep gas mileage though :-\.

I think it's funny that the LS1 guys give less crap to the RX7>V8 guys than the rotary guys do when the RX7>V8 guys are still RX7 at heart..
[edit]
TBH I think it's a no brainer swap, or atleast shouldn't be knocked. More power, more reliably, and a larger aftermarket.. from a statistical standpoint there's no comparison.. seriously guys, there are MUCH more important things in life than loyalty to a certain type of internal combustion engine, I mean c'mon now!

how much do you have total invested in the ls1/fd setup? I've seen a couple that were built for around 10k which is an amazing price for that car. Always loved the styling of the FD's but couldn't stand the unreliability/gas mileage.
I'd say I have less than 10k. The car is a 150k chassis, its pretty rough. The motor came at the right price, bought a wrecked '99 Camaro SS, parted it out for almost what i paid for the whole thing. If I did it again, i'd have more like 12-15k in it cause I'd spend more to get a better car.

hahaa, so humble... your FD is awesome, wish I had kept a lookout for a cheap roller and gone with an FD, seeing how you completed your setup for pretty cheap, but oh well... live and learn.
cant you just throw a T-Rex in the Tahoe?
