Newbie from Hawaii with '98 WS6 M6
Aloha everyone!
I'm kinda a newbie here. Kinda because I have made some posts replying to some parts for sale.
Anyways, live on the island of Oahu. picked up a great deal on a '98 WS6 M6 with slp Lt's, SLP MAF, ORY, hurst shifter, Hypertech programmer, welded subframe connectors, LID, KenneBell strut tower bar & 3:73 gears.
Just added a short stick handle (thanks to many of you who posted how great it is), Magnaflow Cat-back exhaust (Thanks to Tbyrne for the GP)(BTW, LOVE the sound!), Infinity Reference speakers replcing monsson speakers and added an amplified MTX thuderform box (sounds great and still have storage space).
Future plans, placed an order with Nathan @ LED Gauges for HID lights.
Ordered a set of FAST rails, install kit and Fuel gauge from Nate @ Nasty Performance (thanks Nate!).
Purchased a FAST 90 intake and Holley 90 TB with a smoothe bellows.
Ordered a set of Patriot CNC ported LS6 heads (special sale).
Looking to add 100+ Hp with the intake/tb, cam heads.
My biggest dilemma is choosing a cam. I'll post another post enquiring what cam to go with. I want to have the sound (chop) of a cam like a 112 LSA but need to make sure it is driveable on a daily basis without totally killing the fuel economy of the car and running a/c and power brakes
Anyways, thanks for the wealth of information and look forward to chatting some more!

Welcome to the site.
Off topic, but me and the wife stayed on Maui for 10 days on our honeymoon, and I saw like 3 Firebirds total. One LT1 TA and two beat up Third gens. Is there a lot of Birds in your area? We drove around the entire island and went to Oahu for one day, and I didn't see any. Seems like there is more Hawaii folk on the board lately.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Not many Pontiacs in Hawaii PERIOD But that is a good thing or else I would get bored of my ride real fast.
I have only seen about 2 or 3 other WS6 cars around my neck of the woods, so I would say what you saw is about right especially since Maui population is a fraction of the pop in Oahu.

Lots of miles on the body (135k) but engine was replaced in '01 with 72k miles so the engine has about 60k miles.
Engine runs and drives great after the repairs I did.

Thanks for the link, I have seen your club website. I was going to be posting on there soon.
Thanks for the heads up on the cam. I have my eyes set on the SLP #51013 cam (234/228 .576/.571 113 LSA). Looking for some lope to the idle.
Wow, two TA's? Must be nice to make one a driver and the other a NASTY S/S car...to bad we don't have the track no more
Thanks for offering to help. I know I definitely need some help tuning this car once I get all the "toys" on the engine
Mahalo,

The 00 is Larrys from our club. He needed the space and help to work on it since him and 00BLKSS are Auto guys and I am one of the few M6 guys and somehow I know what I am doing on it.. SLP is nice but if you want a cam go to TSP or SpeedInc. and talk to those guys both a great group of guys. Or talk to Larry of the board and get his Cheater Cam. Just make sure u have the tools u need or we can do it at my house when the 00 is outta there, U just gotta buy the 7.4 harden push rods, crank puller, I recommend a ARP bolt, Underdrive pulley, the belt u can get here, also the Patriot Gold springs, water pump gasket just in case ur is bad better to be safe than sorry.

The info on that Cheater Cam for sale
99-TR-CHEATR-CAM Thunder Racing Custom "CheaTR" Camshaft - 214/230 .601/.578 117 LSA. Off Idle-6800 RPM Power Band. Broad power range. Works well with stock exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters. Stock like idle. Minor tuning required on automatic transmission cars. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Double valve springs and titanium retainers required for this cam.

Great information! Thanks!
That last cam looks to be a hardcore cam, huge lifts and 111LSA
I'll check out on the local forum and see when you folks meet up. Would like to see what you guy's are running and if they seem feasible for my daily use.
Thanks again for offering to help with the cam swap.
The patriot heads I am getting have the gold springs, so I just need to get the pushrods, under drive crank pulley. The ARP bolt is looking good too.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the welcome!
Yep, lots of police officers have nice cars for daily work use.
As a matter of fact, my car was a police car, hence the high mileage. But the good part s the police officers anally maintain their cars.
I think after they serve 5 years, they are eligible to purchase a car front a particular list and the City will pick-up half teh tab. Saves the city money from buying complete cars I guess...Sooooo...many of the cops buy the Gt's, SS', and now SRt-8 Chargers!
Speaking of Mopars, I am a mopar guy myself. I just love the modern GM performance products. I own a couple of Cuda's.
