Default Howdy from Kentucky,

I guess its finally time for an introduction. So, um, hi!

Ive been knda lurking around for a little while, reading and searching and Ive made two or three posts but I didnt really think an intro thread was worthwhile until I actually owned a car that was appropriate for the forum, ha, and as of this weekend, Saturday to be exact (my 25th birthday no less, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me...) I took my **** to Indiana and bought a very nice '97 Trans-Am. M6, Mystic Teal, Brown Leather with a stock set of rims wrapped in pretty nice rubber and a set of 17in. Eagle Alloy Series 007's with poor tires. The car is largely stock with about 129k on the odo. Has a short stick, mystery exhaust (flowbastard? I need to get under and try to find out.. Sounds pretty decent), warbird hood and a K&N filter! Ha. Bought from a member here actually, 97GreenTA. Ricky and his dad were great folks to deal with.

I have to say I am THRILLED to have this car and couldnt be more happy with it. We're having some title set-backs while the previous owner's bank gets there finger out of their ***, so I cant do much with the car, it having no plate or or insurance or title and being totally undriveable due to this but I have taken it around my neighborhood a time or two and DAMNIT but its fun. Ive been driving a '93 SHO for a little over a year now and while it really was a fun car, RWD and torque are just.. well, RWD and torque.. what else is there to say?

Ive been looking to buy something new for a while now but really didnt know what I wanted to get, I had tossed up the idea of a Miata but they cost too damn much for what you get speed-wise out of them, 325is, 1st gen (6bolt) DSM or something similar but after some number crunching and about two months of obsessing I just could not beat a Trans-Am for value per dollar spent. Out of the box on good rubber I have a high 13 second car (or atleast thats what poeple seem to be getting out of them in stock and near stock condition), I have creature comforts and fun little weight adding but none-the-less useful features, a modern car, big-*** V8, 6 chances to miss a gear, a solid aftermarket, good potential and a pretty reliable, long lived motor. Oh, its sexy lookin to. I could have bought into a little DSM for less and modded it with the money left over and it would have been faster (2500 w. 2500 in mods would net me a low 13), but it would still sound like a lawn mower and just would never look as sharp as a nice T/A. In the end, I just couldnt beat it.

I'm new to the LT and Trans-Am but far from new to cars in general. Ive been wrenching since I was 16. A buddy of mine and I buy, fix and sell 5.0 Mustangs on the side as a little extra income. I painted a '78 Black Pearl 280z recently, finished building a 12 second Ford Festiva for a friend (yup.. 12.6's in a Festiva... hahahah), painted my SHO and a few other tid-bits. I'm a student in a dinky little community college for collision repair but I really want to paint and do custom and restoration work when I get out.

As to plans for the T/A, I honestly dont know. I thought about 4.10's but I dont know how my mpg will suffer, but the usual stuff will come as money and time permits, which means it will be a SLOW process and 4 months from now will probably find my car about as it sits now, haha. I'll be buying a Pro 5.0 short shifter, long tubes, hot cam, CAI (will prob do a custom dealy, more cause I like fabrication than any other reason), little stuff. I want a street trim middish 12 second 1/4 mile. I need to be faster than that damn Festiva. If a year goes by and things look good as far as finances I'll likely forgo the Hot Cam because if money permits I'd rather like to stick a Powerdyne on the car. First priorities though are rubber for the Eagle's, getting the hood aligned and fixed (it needs to be repainted) as well as repainting and clearing the front and rear bumpers. I may just respray the whole car.. The paint is in good condition but its showing its age with a numerous chips, scratchs and other marks..

Who knows, if the seeds for my mne tree ever take root grow maybe I'll just LS the car.. LS2 sounds nniiccee. Maybe a turbo, or two. Maybe I'll just walk on water while Im putting the money together for that. Ha.

Here are the pics, I have the stock rims on it, I couldnt help dressing it up in the good ones for pics.. but the tires on em are pointless so it was just for the photo shoot. You can see the hood needs re-aligned but you cant tell how bad of shape its in as far as waves and runs and other troubles.

And, one with the stock rims back on.. this is how it'll actually look for a while, ha.

Welcome to the site and nice ride!! Yea I'm working on my 2nd million $$$$ seems that the first million hasn't worked out yet. I had to wait a long time to get my title from the first owner, I was lucky that I had a 2002 silver transam also , that I would just swap the tag to the hawk so I could enjoy it a little.

Thanks for the welcome and the compliments folks.

SES light popped on earlier and I pulled the codes.. Looks like the o2 after the cat on bank one isnt doing its job anymore.. That or the cat itself is pooping out on me. I'll get under and check around tomarrow hopefully. Kinda glad about it cause the car has just felt a little sluggish and my MPG is close to single digits, lol,.

Just cause I cant resist.. haha, The Festiva.. aka, 2Fast2Festy!

Car looks good man. It's been some time now but do you think you could send me up the body pieces and remaining paint and clear for the Black Pearl? I'm almost done putting it back together again.
