Default Honda to chevrolet.

Hey everyone so my name is Dana and well as the title says I am selling my civic in hopes of buying a 98-02 camaro with the LS1. So I have a few questions first off is how reliable is a camaro of this era? Also and I know your all going to laugh but what kind of fuel economy do these cars see with a normal weight foot? Thanks to everyone who replies. I know this is a Chevy forum but this my civic it has a motor swap which I did myself along with a bunch of other crap(dont feel like discussing it all right now.

You will enjoy having a safer car along with the power of the LS1, i get about 20 mpg city/country back roads driving and last trip from atlanta to savannah I got 28 mpg with mods listed. I think upper 20's mpg with the power the motor puts out is pretty impressive and can't be beat. Good luck and welcome to the fun of driving RWD!!!

A stock manual trans LS1 can get 30 MPG on the highway.

My car with heads/cam/forged motor/boltons makes a bit over 450HP and gets around 25 MPG highway and 13-14 MPG in city stop and go traffic.

As far as reliability, they are very reliable, especially in stock form. Once you start major modding it can develop small quirks.

I went from owning 4 imports in the past (Japanese and German) to and LS1 camaro. Its not my daily driver, but I love it. I do miss my old cars, but starting out with 300+ hp stock, vs spending thousands just to get to 300+ hp, is very nice! Very clean civic by the way.

thanks for all the replies, especially the comments on the civic, last thing I expected to hear from anyone on a GM forum. Anywaise I am looking for an automatic becasue my left knee is going bad. Hence one of the reasons I am selling my civic. Knowing that whats the fuel mileage on an auto LS1 or even an LT1? I can run a clutch still but when my knee locks up it can be very difficut ruuning 3 pedals at the same time but I can do it.

yeah I figured with the much bigger motor then the 1.8 I am use to will be just fine in an auto. Does the LT1 get around the same mileage?

One of the nicer civics i've seen, good job with it. but the camaro will changer your life. you will get a good high 20mpg highway and around 15-20 city.

Yeah that civic has been my baby since I was 16 it did however go through a ricer stage, altezzas and underglows til I got smart and asked myself WTF was I thinking. BUt to answer the question that particuler civic is running 190 hp to wheels no idea of 1/4 mile time. guessing mid to low 14's becasue im not the fastest shifter.

You're definitely going to like the change in terms of power and performance, but your mileage is most likely going to be mid 20s highway and mid to high teens around town depending on how you drive. Some M6s especially can do better on the highway, but let's face it, you buy one of these cars to drive them , not drive them . Don't expect good gas mileage when your foot is to the floor, and don't expect to be able to resist putting your foot to the floor, hehe.
