new new yorker waiting for spring in ny april or may i hope i have 96 ss slp package my question is any other 96 ss cars come with the borla dual chrome tip dual exhaust or is this a rare option ? is it a option? also has t56 with hurst short throw torsen rear 342 gear bilstien shocks. i would like to see anyone elses 96 ss thanx

Hey, I don't have an SS, but I do have a 94 Z28. I work for Gwatney Chevrolet in Jacksonville Ar, and we use to install slp options on the cars. We use to get camaro's all the time that needed the slp options so slp would send them to us and we would install them at the dealership. Long story short I don't ever recall the borla being an option. The SLP SS car's were actually built by SLP at the time and they used their own cat back for them at it was the 2OTL. In 1998-2002 chevrolet actually used slp parts but they were installed in house at the factory. In 1996 and 97 they shipped the cars to slp after they were built. After slp put the hood, spoiler, catback, cold air, zr1 wheels, and stripes they were then shipped to the dealerships. I don't know if you already knew that but just incase you didn't. By the way the hurst short throw was a factory option.
No problem, but like I said I don't recall there ever being an option, but that's not to say there wasn't one. I know the shifter was a factory option because we use to have to pull cars off the lot and put them in for customers. I think they came standard in the SS, but they were an option for the Z28 so you might want to check into that

iam the 2nd owner 1st did not do any mods but the dealership put 5000 miles on it for his personal use i dont know what all they did to it at the dealership does that change anything value or rarity wise
I believe the '96SS came w/SLP options:short throw Hurst shifter,Bilstein shocks(1LE suspension pkg.),SLP catback exhaust, 17x9"SLP(ZR1 syle)wheels w/BFG Comp T/A 275/40 tires and ofcourse the functional SS hood/air intake system. Oh, I think the exhaust manifold were "extrude honed".

The exhaust manifolds were honed. I didn't know that. When you think about it that's almost not worth the trouble. It would just be easier to bolt up some long tubes with cats if they were going to go through all that trouble, but slp is really strick on keeping their products 50 state legal from what I hear.
