Default Hello everyone

introduction. Names Dylin, age 27. Married with 2 kids. Been working on cars for about 6 years now, sadly to say all FWD. I built a honda civic that ran mid 13's in the 1/4 without the aid of N2O or boost. I plan on getting myself an LS1 Z M6 in the near future as I have finally grown up and realized its time I got myself a real car.

Just a forewarning, I WILL be asking alot of questions as this will be my first V8 AND RWD car.

Good for you! Welcome to a new beginning. One where you will enjoy the thrust of torque pushing you into your seat. You will look back on those 6 years and think, "what the hell did I do that for?" I myself drove around in a shitbox '90 DSM Laser Turbo for 10 years.
Ask all you want! That's what we're here for. The modding will begin, and it NEVER ENDS. MUUUuuuhahahahahahhahahahha!

And hey, mid 13's NA for a Civic is nothing to sneeze at. Good stuff. Apply that philosophy with an LS1 and you're runnin' 11's in no time.

You came to the right place to get all your ls1 questions answered. Ask away!

Good to see you wised up and decided to get a real car. I guess there is hope for some after all.

Thanks for the welcome. I always start my cars by trying to utilize what power it has so my first posts will be related to suspension and drive train rather than how to get more power.

Contrary to my first post, you're gonna find the stock LS1 setups weak on low-end grunt. I suggest rear gears early on, they really wake up the beast.

Any recomendations? What about swapping up to a 12 bolt rear now and save myself the hassle of doing it later? It seems to me after reading around in the Gears section, it would be easier to put the 12 bolt in now and work everything else around it rather than vice versa.

Smart thinking. Look into a 9" -easier for gear swaps.

For an M6 (6-speed) look into 4.11's

I've done everything *** backwards. My clutch and rear end are conspiring to see who goes first.

its really all up to you.
One thing that does seem to go early (or went early for me) was the stock clutch. Id invest in a good one

welcome to the board and congrats on the car

welcome! i'm also new and i also ask alot of questions and for themost part, if had good advice and tech. info.

A new rear end is a great idea as for a beginning mod. 3.73 gears would be my choice or maybe something smaller for the street. or 4.11's for all out drag. Diz' rides are absolutly incredeble with a gear swap and a stronger rear.
for suspension, i would recommend lowering springs,i have eibach prokit 1.2" drop, the lower center of gravity will improve your cornering. I cant say how much more fun I have driving my Z after i lowered it!
Hal adj. springs are great and also look at so products from BMR or SPOHN. Also, a bump-steer tie-rod set and some sway bars and you'll never won't to step out of your ride!!
I've said it before, these rides handle really good stock but with the right parts, they'll out handle any anything!!
LaterZ!
