Broken Starter Mount

Went to start the car tonight. Heard a snap.

One tab on the starter broke. The other bolt snapped off the tab on the block. How would I fix the tab on the block??

Dooh!

Starter is easy.. block not so easy.

I've seen those "fixed" before, but most have replaced the blocks.

First question is why it broke. You had a leaking head gasket lately?

I have no idea why it broke, I was checking for a coolant leak. Went to start it to move it back into the garage.

No leaky head gasket. The thermostat housing was the culprit. Course one of those bolts broke off in the water pump.

I've fixed one on a older 350 block with a stud kit thingy, but this doesn't look good for ya bro.

I eventually wanted another block, but not so soon and not for this reason.

I haven't seen anyone fix one of these easily. This could be terminal. It might be possible to weld up and repair but I would think the job would need to be done on an engine stand. Good luck.
