Ron, go to the damn gym.....

ARE has been suspended as a sponsor for several reasons. As for them not answering the phone or returning calls/emails.....Well, recently that's been their policy.

Sad but true.
Here is my story.

I have sent this to ARE via another Forum, but it was pulled before anyone saw it.
I wa answering one of the people who work for ARE, who has since answered and an engineer in the engine asssmbly plant and did not know this kind of stuff was going down. He has since told me he will talk to Wade in the morning.

I was hoping not to have to post on a public forum like this, but your companies lack of response is amazing. I myself own a business and what ARE is doing is certain death in marketing and sales here in Australia at the very least.

My problem is that I transferred USD$11,000 for an ARE 422 long motor in September last year, being promised that it is ready for despatch in early Dec. I transferred another USD$1,580 in Nov, being the balance as shipment was due in December. From then on my Freight forwarder has been told by ARE that the motor is not ready and is being packaged etc etc. I was Houston over Christmas visiting my family and was informed from my office in Australia that the freight forwarder was told again in early January that the motor is not ready for pickup. I attempted to speak to Wade Stevens 4 times, each time leaving a message with either the receptionist or on his voice mail between the 5th and 7th of January.

On my last call I was told a problem had been found in the casting of one of the heads and Wade had to repair it, as the engine is going a long way and he did not want any problems.

Ok not good but at least a plausible story.

I arrived back in Sydney on the 15th Jan. and immediately sent an email to Wade Stevens with a copy of the freight forwarders comments that their calls where not being answered to ARE.

Further emails and Faxes, to ARE up to today remain unanswered.

I have chosen to airfreight the Engine now, as the 4-6 week via seafreight is no longer acceptable to my project car.

If no response is forthcoming, I am handing all my correspondence and files to Dunn & Bradstreet Canada to recover the debt owing to me.

Leopard1, please keep us updated on your progress. This is very disturbing information, but it seems almost too common from ARE lately. I really had hoped Wade would turn things around, but they may be in too deep.

Thank you for your response Tony. The engineer, Dave, was really nice in the PM he sent me in the other forum, and I hope I get something back. Over here in Australia, it is a lot of money to spend on a motor and I was really looking forward to it.

Yes, if it is ok with this forum to give you feedback in a well worded and not liable like manner I will keep you posted.

Lucky Im not one of those who may have lost money in leau of promised engines or parts.

I too hate seeing someone toying with someone's money I hope there's a good explanation and quick resolution to the issues at hand.

I wonder what the founder(Nick) of such a good company who offered so much to the Performance Industry is thinking right know!

Thanks to those who have been able to shed some light.

Sorry to hear someone is having problems. I myself went there just after the Thunder race for a new short block and H/C install and everthing went very smooth. They are sometimes hard to reach on the phone but try calling early in the morning. Wade is trying very hard to clean up any old problems.

Here is how ARE screwed me over.

I bought Eric C's (Noone) old car which is a ARE motor, incon TT Z28. Eric had misplaced all of his records of the car so I called ARE. The lady told me to fax her the title and she would mail them out to me & within a week they would be in my hands. One week....two weeks...NOTHING. So, I call and she remembers me and says she mailed them out. I ask her if it is possible to fax them to me because I need them ASAP to start re-building the motor. She takes down my fax and says they willl be faxed within a few hours......nothing. I call the next day and she apologizes and says she will get them to me by the end of the day......NOTHING. I call back 2 days later and explain that time is a concern and that I really need those papers so I know whats inside this motor......never get a fax. I call again and explain the whole deal to the receptionist, she says that Sue has to help me ( the one who has not helped me in any way) So after 4 months of this and about 50 phone calls / voicemails.....I still have no records. F*ck ARE....in their AS5.

I just saw this thread.
VT LS1 NZ: We just checked our emails, and don't see anything. We sent you a private message to ask for your name/email address so we can look again.
I have also talked to Klaus and gave him some info.
As far as Eric's motor, I don't see any folders here, maybe Eric took the hardcopy himself and I have no copy here. I will look again.
Thanks

You do not even want to know my story with them, but I got Wade and he is working hard to clean it up. Just to let you know the time frame, I started with ARE a long time before Nick left.........

I have to agree with Rich. I've been dealing with ARE for 4 years and they have ALWAYS taken care of me. I'm very sorry to those who have not had that experience. I do know that there are always two sides to a story...

I've had no issues getting in contact with ARE. I called them yesterday at 4:30 asked for Wade and I heard from him before 5:00. I've booked my car in there for Feb 23

1. You're local
2. You're "dropping off" (as in, money's not in their coffers yet)

Seems the people who have the most problems are not local, and ARE already has their money. Tough to follow up on something like this, especially from NZ.

Makes even outsiders like myself wonder what the hell is going on up there, why there is story after story of getting the runaround by ARE.

Yes they are local to me but I still got a phone call back within 30 min. I just think that to every story there are 2 sides. Why doesn't anyone start a thread about who's had good service from ARE. You only ever hear the bad... never the good.

I haven't had any bad experiences with Wade and he's always returned my phone calls promptly. I can't wait to get my car back to bang through the gears

This morning I received an Email from Wade Stevens. We are going to have a Telecon tommorow morning Sydney time and arrange shipping date. He has offered to pay the excess in costs of the airfreight. All in all a very fair offer and follow up. Will keep you posted on when engine arrives in Sydney.
