Default Nick and ARE your time is up*Update*

Nick and ARE it is **** or get off the pot time. You have until 7-26-04 to finish my car.On that day I'll be waiting in your parking lot with my gooseneck trailer. No more bitching on the net or unpleasant phone conversations with your staff. That is the time frame you have to work with. After 506 days I'm tired of you people and ready to move on.Here's your chance to try and salvage what's left of your reputation.I will report to everyone what happens good or bad.I don't know what your plan is but I'm going racing.I already have 2 different shops ready to complete this car for me.I'm going to BG on 8-21-04 and will be driving my SS.***** up man and finish what I paid you to do.Dave

It will be ready, I know you have talked to the guys at the shop and that was the day you set. My plan is to be at BG to support you and the car in the race.

Thanks

ARE has made much progress in the last couple days. This has been verified by pics they E-mailed to me.I have spoken with Nick more in the last couple days than the previous 2 years.Car should be hitting the dyno by early next week.I think my deadline will be met baring any unforseen problems.

Were your issues resolved w/ ARE?

Nick, what about the "rest" of us, that still have lingering issues?

My car is running and waiting to be tuned at Wheel to Wheel early next week. Then I have to bring it home and swap parts that dumbass Wade Stevens told me to buy.I ordered a new 9 inch and asked him repeatedly if the 3.89 gear he said to get was right for my setup.Well next week I'm paying a local shop to put a 3.40 gear in it to replace the new, never driven on 3.89.With a 3.89 and a TH400 the car would wheelstand on a small hit of spray,so here I go spending money twice.ARE would have swapped it but I'm at the point I just want my **** back without having to wait a month for their slow asses to get it done.I'll take it to my own people locally and it will be done in 1 day.Hopefully after this, and some other changes I can get some enjoyment out of my big dollar race car that has been sitting in Toronto for 2 ******* years.I really sucks knowing I could be in the top 5 fastest cars on this site currently, while I sit here with my thumb up my ***.The only reason they have had the car in the last several months is because I refused to take a 25-30k hit to walk away, and more importantly,Nick's *** is going to finishing the damn job I paid for.I'm too stubborn to let him off that easily.I have found the best way to get things moving on your project is to raise 9 kinds of hell on the net.Unfortunately that is the best way to deal with these people.

It's good to hear that you got your car back finally. I'm sure it's in good hands at WtW right now. Best of luck, and post up some times (and videos!) when you get that thing to the track!

I don't have it yet,but I will on Tues the 24th.Car will be at Norwalk for a very private(12-15 cars) track rental on Sept 3rd.By then I'll have wheely bars and the right gear so we should be able to put the spurs to it pretty hard. We videotape everytime we go to the track.

Dave,

Didn't Wade run the same gears (3.89:1) in the 8.54-second Camaro that he built? The car had a 9-in. Moser rear end and a TH350, not all that different from your setup. Plus he ran a 400-shot in that pass--not what I'd call a small hit.

It seems that customer service is just not a very standard option any more.

The car also had a lock-up convertor and a 1.72 1st gear that I don't have. With a 2.48 1st gear TH400 the car would wheel stand on a small hit.ARE was spraying more than a 400 shot when they went 168 mph, quite a bit more actually. It doesn't matter now I'm picking up my finished, but garbage short block racecar tommorrow and moving forward with another shop.I was speechless when I got the news that the block was leaking last night but I feel liberated in a way.I can put this nightmare behind me and move forward with another shop.

I think you will find that the 3.40 gear will wheelstand harder than the 3.89

I talked with Nick this afternoon and a resolution was worked out.I'll wait on a call from him tomorrow afternoon before deciding what to do.Nick did say he would build me a iron block and have it done in 2-3 weeks. He said if he could get custom pistons any faster he would have it done in a couple days.
Thanks for the tip Madman, another knowledgable person told me the same thing this afternoon.

I ran a 3.40 when I was spraying and I could not keep the front end down. I could never even spray more than 50% with my progressive controller and I was still all over the place. I now have a 3.89 to try and settle the front end down.

Good Luck!

Tom

The problem with Daves car is the 3.89 gear is too high for the RPM's the motor pulls... I think he's going to do wheelie bars...
