Default Wtf Qtp Is Terrible

Ok... we got everything on, after alot of struggling, grinding, relocating steering rack... honing out the header bolt holes, and now we go to put on the egr and air back on and the ports arent even in the right spot... on top of all that the headers took like 3 months to get here... i highly recomend against QTP headers... i thought they were more quality than that... now can someone offer any advice on how to deal with the air and egr tube placement? If all else fails we are just gonna remove them like i should have done in the first place (ordered race style headers). But how do you block off the intake port on top of the intake manifold?

Sorry to hear of your problems with the QTPs, sounds like they may have sacrificed some fitment quality in order to get them out
For the intake use a 1-3/8 adjustable freeze plug to plug up the hole (basically a rubber stopper with a bolt running thru it, and a nut on the end, tighten the bolt, and the rubber stopper expands to plug the hole)

I'm glad I bought my QTPs when I did. Sure I paid double but I didn't have to do jack to make them fit. I think and thought this might happen when they started outsourcing to get the price down

ya i think they did sacrifice fitment quality to get them out... but its not right. I payed close to 1500 for y pipe, headers, and qtecs. They should work like they're supposed to. Anyways, ok ill try that freeze plug thing. Thanks for the info...

sorry to hear your problems. but my experience with them was nothing but good (although i got mine about a year ago. My headers fit great and slid in very easy. they only problem i had was with the Q-techs, but when they went out on my car QTP was very good about sending replacement parts out at no charge. I'm not doubting what your sayin at all, i just didn't want to see QTP get bashed on this whole thread.

It's the new batch that's going out that has the fitment problems. The older versions don't have the issues. You lucky guys!!

Its not like Kooks is flawless either...

Mine were touching the K-member and had to go back for modification...

Aftermarket parts sacrifice engineering efforts for cost due to low volumes.

Don't complain about that. I paid $1100 just for the headers before they lowered the price. I agree though regardless of the price they should fit without trouble

I could have sworn that some people were contacting QTP about the issue.

I drove to mufflex on Saturday so the could customize my y pipe and they let him know that the headers were hitting on both sides. When I spoke to Barry on Monday he asked if I was the person at mufflex. He knows about the problem.I had to take on my drivers off again and remove the Qtp logo and ding the header and push up the collector on the drivers side.I haven't time to fix the passenger side yet.

Of course the second I order my QTP's I start hearing all this ****. Anyway I ordered them through fast toys and I emailed them letting them know I was concerned there would be a problem. Well, they emailed me back with Barry's standard response about how the bolt holes are oversized and how the steering colum is adjustable. Barry also said that he was only contacted by one or two customers and told them the above. Since he has not heard from them since he assumes everything is ok. Now that some of you guys have smashed and pryed your QTPs into place, you should still contact QTP and let them know they fit, but only after modification. These are advertised as having no clearance issues. Why is everyone so ready to just smash them up instead of trying to get QTP to remedy the situation?

Because QTP won't remedy the situation. Their customer service is horrible.

IMO someone needs to send Barry an email with a link to this thread.
When a $400 set of Pacesetters fit better than an $800 set of QTPs somethings definately wrong, and QTP needs to know the manufacturing group that's now making these headers is causing QTPs reputation to go down the tubes.
Hopefully someone will go and kick the manufacturer in the nuts and tell them to pull their head out, and get it right (either that or find someone else to make the product who can )

Lets postpone any further postings until QTP can address this thread. I think everyone has voiced their opinions quite clearly.
