Exclamation Any one having problems with Scott at DLS?

I ordered a 9" from Scott back in September.

I am having gear noise issues and I'm trying to get a hold of Scott through PMs and voice mail but can't get a hold of him to discuss in detail about my issues.

When I first was getting the noise, I sent him a few PMs and a few voice mails and about 10 days later I did get one response back and all he said was change the fluid to 85-140 and I might have to send the center section back to him.

I just want to talk to him on the phone so we can work this out but he won't call me back.

Nothing like dropping $2,400+ and not getting any support...

Maybe this will get him to call me back...

how long's the problem been going on, and how long have you been trying to contact him?

Scott is a busy man, do you have gear noise all the time? accel? Decel? What gear set did you ask for, pro, street? motive, strange? They are all factors in noise, some setups make more noise than others and I have yet to see a 9" in an f-body NOT make noise. Im sure it cant be as bad as some of the rears that shipped straight from moser that I have heard!!

Its going on a month now that I've had the noise. I've been trying to get a hold of him for over 2 weeks now, I just want to talk to him on the phone. He wasn't that hard to get a hold of when I was getting ready to spend my money with him...

I changed the oil to 85 - 140 and it didn't make a difference. I have about 250 miles on it now. All easy driving, I logged all my drives in case he doesn't believe my driving habits for break in.

Under 60 MPH its ok (for the most part, livable), but once you get over 65+ MPH thats when it really starts making noise when giving it a little gas.

I haven't even gotten on it yet and I'm afraid too like I've heard on here, once I start beating on it, it will probably get worse.

I ordered Motive Performance gears but he insisted I use US Gears after I paid him. I wanted Motive because they were known to be the quietest aftermarket gear sets. He said if I wanted Motive it would take 1-2 weeks more to get my rear end. Mind you this is after I already paid him and a week or so went by. He also claimed that he has never heard anyone complain about gear noise with US gears. He's the pro, I'm not so I took his word for it.

Thing is, before I made my decision to buy a 9", I did a lot of reading on this board and a lot of people that had 9" rears said they were quiet overall and a lot said they were as quiet as a stock 10 bolt. I don't expect it to be perfectly quiet like a 10 bolt but it was even getting on my wifes nerves and she never bitches about how loud my car is. I shouldn't have to open my cutout to kill the gear noise....

How can some people have the same parts and some rears makes noise and some don't, inconstant build quality gear sets or just assembled wrong?

All I want is for him to call me so we can discuss options. It would be nice if he paid for shipping both ways if I have to send it back to him and get reimbursed for some of the gas I used to break it in properly.

Busy or not, He should at least get in touch with the man. For some $2500 is a good chunk of change to lay down.

The place I bought my rear end from was "Johny on the spot" with any issues I had which were hardly any just a few install questions. Customer Service is really big for me, and I let everyone know if I get both good or bad.

I always recomend the shop I bought mine from. Gears are quiet (Motive performance) and customer service was OUTSTANDING. They were the ones that built my thirdmember with the parts that I wanted. (For instance I elected to get the Strange Pro Nodular unit) My rearend showed up on my doorstep 5 business days after I ordered it.

Yes my rear end makes some noise (Mostly from the Detroit locker) and it is not as quiet as my 10 bolt which should be expected but if you have to open your cut out something is wrong.

If I spent that much money I would have called like you did which was the right thing to do and if I hadn't received a call in two weeks I would be pretty pissed.

Busy or not you're the customer and one who has already paid, that's bad business and there is no excuse for a business not to return a call in two weeks.

Take it back there, drop it off and tell him to fix it and if he doesn't sue him.

If he doesn't fix it then just post again and let us know.

I know a lot of racers and I will have no problem telling every single person I know to spread the word to never do business with that guy.

Good luck getting this resolved. Scott seems to be pretty easy to get a hold of when you want to buy something from him, but not so easy to get a hold of when you have a problem.

I actually called him about 4-5 times (over 2 week period) and left a message each time with my phone number to call me back.

What more am I suppose to do? I PM'd him many times, left multiple voice messages and he still won't call me back. The last voice message I left was yesterday around 5pm.

All I want to do is talk to him but I guess thats asking too much, not a good way to run a business. I tune cars from time to time and I never blow any one off after I tuned them if they have any questions or issues.

Scott please call me, I'm sure you can break away from plowing snow for 10 minutes over the next 24 -48 hours.

This is beginning to sound like another "Absolute Speed"

Well, haven't heard from him yet.

I left a voice mail on his phone yesterday at 1:14pm, left a message on his website and just sent him a PM a few minutes ago for him to call me anytime between 8am - 8pm.

If I don't hear from him before Christmas, maybe I'll leave him a well deserved Christmas present in the Sponsor Feedback section on Christmas day...

What more am I suppose to do?

I think the sponsor feedback idea is a good one. I've had issues with him too.

This is why i've been holding off on upgrading my 10 bolt. Luckily I can live for a while on the 10 bolt because of the auto trans.

I had motive gm in my 10 bolt 97ta be very quiet..4.10 ratio and then had them installed in my 99 trans am and they were terrible loud. But of course this was now a used set.
I then went to richmond although was trying to order some strange gears but speed shop owner/buddy said the richmond were strong and not that loud. They were louder than god and he took them back off me and they broke on the very first pass on track in his 93 paxton ta.
I am wondering can you not get actual ford gears for the 9 inch.Would bet they would be quiet if set up right. And ford 9s are pretty easy to set up as you can do it on the bench.
