06 Impala Ss Recall Done!
Well, brought my car in to the dealer yesterday to have the power steering hose recall done. I never would of realized it was such an involved job. I was told that the job took the mechanic 5 hours to complete. Apparently the V8 is such a tight fit in there that he had to lower the engine cradle to change the hose. This of course meant that a front wheel alignment was necessary as well. All seems fine afterwards, but thats not going to stop me from taking a look underneath and make sure all is as it should be. Lots of mechanics take shortcuts and not put things back in there clips or brackets...I hate that!
On another note....while that car was in I had them do a load test on the battery. As most of you know that some of our cars are having trouble starting if it's really cold out or the car sits in the garage unused for 1-2 weeks. They said the load test showed that the battery was good. But he did say that it was low. Now, I drove the car over an hour to the dealer near my work....you'd think that the battery should be fully charged by then. Anyway..they put the battery on charge for me to bring it back up and told me if I had any further problems to give them a call. I really wished they would of changed the darn thing to a 700CCA professional series Delco. I know this is a battery issue....if they dick me around too long, I'll just go out and buy one for $80.00-$90.00 and put it in myself. Nothing worse than wondering if your car is going to start today!

I definitely know it's a tight squeeze with this engine. When my tensioner broke last summer, they did have to lower the engine. Never thought about the alignment issue though, and i know that wasn't done.

I believe so, but it's by location. If you're not somewhere where you regularly hit 4*F or something like that, they probably wouldn't do it. I can't find the bulletin, but it specifically lists states where this is likely to occur.
