Default Loud rattle at startup...

Hi all.
My car just started having a loud rattle at startup from the engine bay when cold. After it's warmed up, it doesn't do it, and it only lasts for a few seconds, but it sounds awful. I haven't had the chance to have someone else crank it while I watch/listen yet. Has anyone else experienced this? My car has the FWI, Silicon Elbow to TB, Flipped motor mount and a built tranny from Century transmissions (with higher stall converter.) Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
BJ

It is a clicking/rattling sound. I had my wife turn it over while I tried to pinpoint where it came from, but no luck (couldn't tell if it was in the intake manifold area or coming from under the engine--sounded like closer to the driver's side than the passenger's side, though.) If it is the same clicking that you're referring to, what is that?

probably some engine parts gettin oiled up. could be the dod lifters or its just knocking cold.

nothing serious if it goes away... you just need a louder exhaust

in order of what I would expect it to be:
rocker arms clattering before the oil gets up to them.
piston slap.
loose exhaust manifold bolt(s).

Nothing really to worry about in any of those cases. If it continues after the car warms up, then start to worry.

the LSX engines are known for this clanking on cold start up. It's the lifters and supposedly normal.

This is caused by a varnish build-up on the lifters and bores, well everything inside your engine. my fix for years on many engines is, put one of these in the crankcase now with your oil and put a new one in with every oil change from here on. it really does work not like the others.
