I mean I would have used any of these:

Primers

The adhesion promoter didn't give me any trouble but it is just clear.

Mine is all white, with black letters. Painted it with Krylon Fusion paint specifically for plastic, no sanding needed!

How long have you had it on there nacho and how does it look now? That might be the more cost effective way to go. How glossy is the paint?

I've had it in there for about 4 months now....looks freshly painted. No chipping, no flaking, looks great. The paint is more of a satin finish, has some shine to it but it is by no means a glossy paint. It matches the inside of the engine bay that is painted white so I'm happy.

Just make sure to do very light coats and then let dry followed by another light coat. It looks like its never going to change color but trust me it does.

That looks good....but do these engine covers serve any purpose????

I love the look of the engine itself, and I am in favor of just dumping the cover all together if it isn't needed.

I had mine off and took it in for dealer service and they yelled at me. Asked me where it was etc. But when I asked them about what it does they didn't have an answer.

I think that could look hot as well. Be sure to post some pics when you get it done.

has anybody thrown around the idea of attempting to powder coat....instead of paint....i know we are going for quality with price...but i think the powder coat would look a lil diff. I'm going to do blue in the middle with silver for the rail sections.......all in poweder coat...i will post some pics of this when im done....as well as my STB and Billet diagonals....

With the braces, I wet sanded (there were still plenty of black paint remaining on them) but sticky enough to adhere to paint! Then I sprayed em with the same GM Silver Dupli Color and 2 or 3 shots of clear.

And LOL!! about the engine cleaning!! When and/or if I'm around, its a bet!!

I don't believe you can powder coat plastic.
Powder coating is a type of dry coating, which is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin." The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as "whiteware", aluminium extrusions, and automobile and motorcycle parts. Newer technologies allow other materials, such as MDF (medium-density fibreboard), to be powder coated using different methods.

Ok, tonight I got off my *** and painted my engine cover. Did different than you guys because I want a totally new look. I did the opposite of the red cover. The curved manifolds are red and everything else is satin black with red letters and lines. I will get pics up when I get it installed, it's hanging in the garage drying right now. Kind of looks like a baboons *** though HAHAHAHA
