Oil Change...
So I just got my oil changed today at noon...6 qts of Valvoline Syn-Power and an oil filter for the new low price of $66.05...with my $7 off coupon mind you...
I think it is time to buy some ramps and crawl up under there and start doing it myself
Any thoughts on the oil change prices??? Or does everyone do it themselves??

i change all my own oil. I just bought 5 qts of mobil one plus a mobil one filter for 29.99 a week or so ago on sale at advance. (usually 7 bucks a qt and the filter is like 12, so bout $47 value for 29.99) but my gf pays like $85 for a mobil one oil change on her 3.5 Altima Coupe at like a quick car....

Well, some how I didn't notice Midas charged me $120 for Castrol Syn back when I got the car back to TX from VT and had all the fluids flushed and changed. My uncle just got hit up for the same amount... So 3wks ago when I was due, I went upto autozone and bought Royal Purple and a Fram Filter for about $55. I have a feeling Midas intentionally marked up there oil 100% from what NAPA charged them. I will be changing my own from now on, as it was a pain to get the drain bolt and filter off.
And just recently did my fiances mustang oil change, and they stripped the damn oil drain plug, so it was really fun beating that off with a hammer and vise grips! Plus, you do it when you want it done from now on, and don't have to spend an hour+ waiting for your car to get pulled in.

LOL i learned my lesson having my oil changed at a place. They first thought my coolant opening was my oil opening. They opened it and it sprayed a little bit. Then they didn't recap it right so when I left the cap came off and sprayed coolant all over my engine. Came back with a over heated engine and they fixed it and gave me a free oil change. Haven't used that free oil change and never will haha.

Whever I get my oil changed, I walk right behind to the work area. That "no customers beyond this point" sign, HA! I am not going to leave my car for an oil change without seeing everything get done. They know how I am at the dealer, so no one says a thing when I go back there.

I do my own as well...unless it's in for service at that time. If that's the case, I leave the oil & filter on my seat and they charge me $10 or so to do it.
As others have said, Mobil1 is around $26 for the 5-qt container at Walmart, plus another $6-7 for another qt. They have **** filters there (Fram only...some OE but not many), so get it elsewhere.
I just did my oil two weekends ago, but Walmart was out of M1 5w-30. I got Pennzoil Premium Synthetic instead for $24, plus another qt, plus a K&N Filter @ Autozone for $14 (ouch). Cost me about $45.
When I first switched to synthetic (around 5,000mi), I got a 6-pk of M1 filters on ebay for $40. That was a sweet deal. Haven't been able to find them at that price since.
And FWIW...the drain plug is at the front of the pan...so putting it up on ramps (if you can get on standard ramps...I cannot) will leave a good amount of oil in there. I jack up the front & put it on stands, then jack up the rear by the (cough) hitch (cough) to pitch it forward a bit.

Putting the GXP on ramps is a bitch, tires are about as wide and I have a hard time getting started, then there is always that fear of driving off the end. My brother's GTO just pushes them because they don't grip our garage floor very well. LOL

Wow, am i the only guy **** enough to not change my oil in just 10 minutes, hell i let the system drain usually for about an hour after i unplug it, and the whole time old oil is coming out. Haha i don't think theres anyway i could only take 10 minutes with it and feel good about it. And its royal purple x 7 qts for the goat and a k&n/mobile 1 filter
