don't go WOT until around 15-20mph. Just hold the brake and rev to about 1800-2000RPMs and roll off the line at about 50% throttle, and roll into 100% around 15-20mph.

It is tricky with these cars and if you haven't removed TQM or even reduced it, be careful. If you get a great launch with no slip the TQM will engage and you'll be introduced to your seat belt like you've never been before. Thank god for my seat belt the first time it happened to me before I tuned that out, cause I would have eaten a big chunk of my steering wheel for sure.

Practice, practice and practice.. After awhile you start to feel when the tires bite and gain traction.

How do you Imp/Monte people keep your car from short shifting to 3rd gear? In drive I think mine will hit 3rd gear at around 5500-5600 or so.

Just hold it in second gear, meaning put ther shifter in 2nd and leave it! That's what I did when I was at the track last year, and will do again the next time I go.

What kind of times did you get by doing that?

Get an HP Tuner and raise the shift point.

I ran 14.2 doing this. If you leave it in drive you shift out of second gear around 90mph, rather than around 100mph. Leaving it in 2nd will give you at least 2-3mph higher trap.

I went to the drags last night. 2nd time out with this car so I've got alot of learning to do myself.

I got my best time leaving the traction control on, starting out in drive then when it shifted into 2nd I put it in manual mode to stay in 2nd gear.

Still got alot of tire spin with traction control on. Best time was 13.88 at 100mph
My Son's 00 Camaro SS went 13.12 and his friend's 00 Mustang GT went 13.94.

We had a little fun teasing him that the "old family 4dr" is faster that his Mustang.

Here's the video.

That's a great time considering the high 60' time, which means the car kept pulling like crazy once it hooked up. Once you get the traction issue down, you'll shave another .1 or .2 off your time just on your driver experience. Great Time!!!!!!
