Default Track Saturday

I'm heading to the track Saturday, it's supposed to be in the 80's and I'm hoping for good times and video's. I'll post everything. I hope everyone will wish me luck....not for great times (which would be nice)...but for my tranny to remain in one piece.

Also, I'm be getting a chance to run my buddies 9 second car too, should be good times

obviously don't be too upset if your time/trap sounds low. That kind of temps are a killer! Last time I ran was in the upper 80's (cannot even estimate how hot it was on the track) and I was struggling to get low 15's at 96-97 MPH.

I wanted to go to my local track this weekend, but they have some motorcycle event. I don't think I'll be able to go out before it hits 90's here in Texas.

I ran a few times last year when my car was stock and ran consistently around 14.6 or so. I'm hoping with the mods, I'll improve on that. I am worried that the new tires are going to hook a little harder. I'll post everything, hopefully a bunch of new records for this whp.

What tires are you going to run on your Impala? The 9sec ride sounds exciting. What is it? Have fun.

It's a fox body mustang with a small block and a huge *** turbo. The motor was built for another car, that now has twin turbo's (purple saleen car). My buddy Travis is the man (with no fear) and they have pics and video at http://www.performanceautodyno.com. The car I'm hoping to drive is the black fox body and has the motor that was in the purple car before they switched it out. Pics of his twin turbo car are in the gallery under 2008 race season....NO JOKE!!!!!!!!!! Pics of the car I'll hopefully drive is under Shopcar 1200HP.

I'm lucky enough to have unlimited dyno time at his shop and good friends that work there....THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!!!...not that you'd ever be on this forum with us LS4 guys, but LS4's rock!!!!!!!!!!!!

I forget the tire brand, I'll post it in the am, but they are 245/35/r20.

Have you ever driven anything with even half that power?

I hope so, if not that's a recipe for t-boning a wall.

Oh sure, I drove a mid to high 10 second car back when I made good money and could afford such a hobby. It's been over a year, but I'll settle right in. I can guarantee I'll be letting off around the 1/8th mile mark....or sooner if she doesn't hook up. If I didn't feel comfortable, I wouldn't run it, nor would he let me. Just because I drive a slightly modified 08 Impala (and love driving it every day and hopefully will break 14 seconds), doesn't mean I don't come from real power.

I hear you man. Just making sure, some people don't have common sense ya know! The highest hp vehicle I drove down a 1/4 mile was my brothers old 383ci 2000 Trans Am. Only made 440whp, but was a handful.

Didn't get a chance to run my buddies car, they were too busy logging data. The Imp couldn't find traction to save it's life. I was running 14.5 - 14.6 all day but with 2.4 60' times. I need better traction, I am going to look into Street Drag Radials for this thing, and see if I can shave a .5 off my 60' time and keep my tranny in one piece. Must see mid 13's........

I've only made 5 passes with mine so far. The last 3 were with traction control on and all were in the 13s. Even with traction control on I was spinning my tires like I was driving on butter. I need to play more to figure out how to drive this FWD...

I'm looking to borrow a set of slicks to make a couple of runs just to see what she can really do.

With 15k miles on my car the fronts tires only have about 20% tread left so I may pick up .1-.2 just by replacing my tires.

Sounds like 13's are at your fingertips.

My 1st pass was a 15.0 @101mph in mine. Guess I got too into the moment off the line

Here's my 13.88 run.

I hear you on the tires. Mine are brand new, but running 20's with no sidewall, and I can't drop any pressure, I think it's about as fast as she'll go with street tires. In the coming weeks, I'll get a set of radials for the stock rims, and head on back

Someday I'll hit that 13 mark in this sled.

bez - what was your trap speed? Try using your stock wheels, might be a lil better.

Don't slicks tend to break all sorts of stuff on our cars?

Especially at sea level too. Trap speeds were between 97-100 I'll scan the slips and post them in the next couple days.
