Yeah, so basically we're all screwed in this forum. Only thing we can hope for is the return of the RWD Impala SS. I'd be happy even if it were a Holden clone like the G8. IDK where I'll stand, both financially and in regards to any new car purchase, but if that time comes and there is a nicely-powered version of the Imp available in 2011, I'd be all for it.

Why does this matter AT ALL to those who already own one? The Monte SS was dead after 2007, and I personally don't care. I have my car, I'm not going to buy another one. Like how are you guys "screwed" or asking the question about "where it leaves you?"

well i was hoping for them to continue a LS4 power performance car so that they might develop the mtors mor and myabehave some performance factory upgrades u know. Kinda like how the how F-body guys use ls6 parts for LS1's

Well GM has said no existing Pontiac models will come over as Chevys, so don't expect any immediate G8 rebadge as a SS. Maybe when the Commodore gets restyled in a few years. But I wouldn't count on a RWD Impala anytime soon.

Is ford in that much better a position, financially, than Chevy? With their turbo Taurus, GM falls WAY behind in all of this. There'd be NO excuse for Chevy to stick with status quo on a new Impala just because they sell a lot of them. As much as I hate to admit it...the Taurus redesign was great, imo, even w/o the turbo. The new Fusion is nice too.

I think EVERYONE is ahead of Chevy in terms of development and imagination...but that's what happens with fleet vehicles, unfortunately, and was what caused the elimination of the Taurus a few years back...way too boring.

I'm the guy that says, "You have a smile everytime you drive it." and "If it's anything like the originals, it will be a success." I'm just bummed at the lack of a manual trans as 6 of the 7 SHO's I've owned were manuals. Bummer about GM killing the LS4 but I guess you can say we're driving rare machines now.

I still love many of GM's products. I would never buy anything but a GM truck and they have some very solid offerings. What is starting to get old is the numerous recalls on brand new vehicle for very minor things that really don't need to be recalled. The 2010 Camaro SS already has a recall and we haven't even gotten one yet. I think they are getting overly cautious because of the government sticking their noise where it doesn't belong as usual. GM will stand for Government Motors before too long.
