Default Smooth Intake Bellow

Ok, I would like one of these instead of the accordian type that is stock. Is this the right size I would need?

that 3.5" you linked to, is too big.. I found out the hard way... hah! as a matter of fact, I still have it sitting under my desk... never got around to sending it back... heh...

get some new t-bolt clamps too when ya order the stuff... much better than the stock clamps..

Well, that's on it's way.

Lou,

What size grommet did you use? And how'd you seal it? Did it fit in there good? Thanks again.

You can take the one out of the stock tube and drill a hole that size in the new elbow.

no ya can't... if it's like ours is on our montes, there's no "grommet" in our stock tubes... the fitting is molded as part of the tube...

Mgp - check out the instructions for the K&N intake - http://www.knfilters.com/instructions/63-3059_inst.pdf I used the same size grommet as they have in theirs... 3/8" inner diameter I think it is... and I drilled the hole for it to be the same size as it's inner diameter...

then, I used some black rtv gasket/seal maker to seal it all up around it - on the inside and the outside...

Cool, good to know. Did you guys notice any difference? I'd rather have the air smooth until it hits the Throttle Body Spacer. I hate the accordian looking ones.

So, if I were to buy the HSRK and relocate the IAT into the filter somewhere, would I not need to drill any holes into this elbow?

yes, you still have to drill the hole, because that fitting in the intake hose is for the crankcase vent breather tube... has nothing to do with the IAT sensor...

I believe the elbow on the K&N is what gives it that extra umph over the CAI using the stock elbow. I've owned both and you could feel a slight performance increase with the K&N....I attribute it to the elbow.

He's talking about just replacing the elbow and using a drop in K&N filter in the stock air box.

yep, doesn't matter... still have to drill the hole/use the grommet and fitting in the new intake hose for that crankcase breather tube...
