What does it take to turn off DoD? Anything mechanical or strictly a quick tune/chipping? My DoD burns oil, everytime I get off the hwy I smell it and everyone month or so I have to add a half qrt of oil.. Not much, but I rarely drive on the hwy..

About 3-4 months ago I took a trip about 5 hours away and halfway back my "low oil" warning popped up on the trip computer.. I checked the dipstick and there wasnt a spot of oil on it.. luckily my buddy happened to have a nice big bottle of my oil in his trunk.. F*** DoD.. I want to get rid of mine..

theres a tsb for the oil consumption issue. dod can be tuned out and i believe a member actually figured out how to run it on a switch with out any tuning. he had a thread with a wiring diagram up.

i would be very hesitant in running the switch, but idk thats just me. why not spend the money to get a tune, helps mileage, performance, etc. your not gonna see the in-town mileage change with DOD off without the tune im assuming. i love my Hp tune in my gxp. trans shifts firm and quick and can tell the performance increase

I think when I go with the Overkill tune I'm going to ask him to disable it. We'll see.

Best thing I have done so far by disabling DOD and driveablity feels a lot better. Picked up better city mpgs but lost highway mpgs that's ok I do more city driving.

I definitely lost MPG with my tune but for the difference in power and no more helicopter drone, I'll spend a little more on gas.
