Default Problem with gas cap?

I keep having a recurring problem with my gas cap. The dealer I bought the car from has already replaced it once and had to reset the check engine light another time. What happens is a message pops up on the screen that says check gas cap. I do and always make sure it's tight, then two days later the check engine light comes on. Has anyone else seen this problem? This will be the third time I've brought it in with this problem.

Haven't seen this before, but if the cap has been replaced, then the only other likely culprit is the cap sensor itself. Have them check that next time you go back.

yep, had that problem last month... have them check the actual valve in the evap canister...

that's what my issue was... wasn't the gas cap vacuum issue at all...

my dealer found the issue first shot - just told them the DIC message and gave them the DTC code, they diagnosed it and found the valve was bad... so they had to replace the part...

everything's been fine since..

Cool. I just ordered the vent valve. Seems simple enough to replace. Hopefully that fixes it.

If you pay someone to change it you're wasting your money.

Easy as changing a fuel filter, maybe easier and the part is less than $35.

x2. I paid a total of $31 with shipping from a site that has GM PARTS and sells them DIRECT.

Just heard back from my dealer and they replaced the evap solnoid. Cost me 40.00. I did give them a little hint when I dropped the car off this morning thanks to you guys! Since this was the third time I didn't want it to drag on anymore. Now that the check engine light is off I can move onto more fun things, like installing my STB"s and Federal SS595 tires.
