The old ones were a 5 speed, but as far as I know there not faster, maby funner!

The new SHO's are sick! Still, everytime I hear SHO I just think Taurus Taurus Taurus...O well. I guess I need to hurry up and start modding so I will be prepaired to kick some *** when I see a new SHO on the streets.

The V8 engine was a Yamaha head design on a Ford engine, unlike the V6 which was completely Yamaha. That being said, we banned the 3rd gen (V8 guys) from racing long ago. (Sorry for the harken back to my SHOforum days). Many a post on that site...good times...good times.

I think you guys are worried about nothing. I've never heard of one running 13.40's yet, especially with the low trap speed of 103, Kinda the same deal as the LS-4 cars running 13.80's stock (exception rather then rule). I believe the LS-4's were shown running around 101 trap speeds in the mags. Most are running around the LS-4 times which I would expect. Yea it's got 60 more horsepower but it's 500lbs heavier, so about a wash.

cheers

the old v6 sho was a lot faster, they stopped building it because it had so much power and torque that it was grenading trannys out of the factory.

While the transaxle may have been weak in them, they were most assuredly not faster, nor quicker, than the 2010 MY.

Best I've seen in the mags is high 13s-low14s thing weighs 4361lbs. Still 0-60 in 5.2 and 13.7@103 ain't bad and 11.9 lbs per hp. Image if it weighed 3600 like GXPs with the tt and awd setup. Figure what, prob just over 300 at the wheels. Let's go with me at 165 lbs. The SHO would be 3765 at the track the power to weight ratio would be 10.3 lbs per hp. This car would be runnin 60 in less than 5 and in the low 13s in the quarter. The reason I say this is a G8 GXP weighs 4100 and has 415 and that pwr is 9.9 (4.7/60 13.0/12.9 quarter). With the right programming, the SHO will not be hard to get over 400. Also, they may Ecoboost the Mustang (that V6 is good for 415) it will be beween 340 and 415 HP. The V8 Stang weighs 3555 lbs. and runs high 13s with 315 HP. The 5.0 comes back in 2010 also possibly with a turbo or sc (remember the Mustang SVO with the 4 cyl. 2.3l turbo? I've seen them in the 10s). The V6 is light, so let's say the Stang will be 100-150 lighter. Let's go with 3450 at 340 (pwr 10.1) = a low 13 sec car (will prob have gearing like a V8) and let's say they give it 400 that's pwr of 8.6= a 12 sec car right from the factory. But can they keep the price resonable (I saw a SHO for $43,500)? But you know what, I love my Pontiacs so eff Ford! I'm lyin! I missed out on buyin a 2003 Cobra already done (and 625 at the wheels) for $25,000. I also missed out on a 2002 Firehawk all done (400 at the wheels) for $16,500. That's the one I wanted since I have a 1993 LT1 TA.

I'm with this guy. The V8 SHO's were a great cruiser with a nice exhaust note. The engine wants to make power up high but the 4 speed auto chokes it off. The earlier V6's are much quicker but would still need some extras to keep up with even a stock LS4. SHO's are no joke from a roll but cannot get off the line. To put it into perspective my 93' SHO MTX (manual) with a home-made CAI, equal length catless y-pipe and 100 shot of spray would run high 13 second 1/4's all day long and would trap at 105. The downfall was the 2.4 60's. I still say my Nitrous powered SHO would eat my Impala alive from a roll. The NEW SHO's are a completely different story altogether.

I'm the guy that says, "You have a smile everytime you drive it." and "If it's anything like the originals, it will be a success."

I'm actually beginning to look for either an 89' or 92' SHO. Both are kind of "bastard" years and it's the only two years of V6 SHO I haven't owned.

It's pretty cool the SHO was going against a 2010 GT.

.
you should stick that 100 shot on your imp and you will be running high 12's all day long.

Yeah... believe me that it's been thought about... I still may do it but would like to use HP tuners and a wideband to tune it properly and I don't have the jack for that setup yet.

nice kill

gotta love out of the box performance

my buddy has a lexus is300 automatic/tiptronic close to 65k miles
mods are simple bolt on including cat-back exhaust and intake.

I have a stock 05 grand prix gxp with only 40k and has been babied so everything is running smoothly always synthetic oil changes.

Not a big racer but he feels his car will stay with me all the way .

I just want to know my chances on a 0-60 run because I don't plan on breaking speed limits.

I strongly agree with keeping racing on tracks not streets.

If it's really an is300 (previous gen car), then you can probably set him out several car lengths and still run him down pretty easily. If it's the newer is350, then you may be in some trouble, even if he has an automatic.

I had a turbo c70 that was quiiick but not a v8.
