Default TCM trouble in LS4 with K&N air intake?

I have an 05' pontiac grand prix GXP and recently removed the factory air box and installed a K&N air intake system. I noticed that even with the heat shield, the TCM, which bolts directly onto the heat shield, gets fairly hot. The ECM on the other is located in roughly the same spot it was when it was inside the air box; only it is open now instead of being in a box. The ECM stays cool where it is, but the TCM gets hot. My question goes out to all out that have installed a K&N air intake and have had it for a while (or have knowledge of ECM/TCM heat capabilities), have you had any TCM failures. Or is the fact that it gets hot simply a non-issue.

Thanks,

Andy

Non-issue for me. I have had mine on for 20k miles, in El Paso triple digit summer temps and not had one problem.

Did you use the washers to shim it off of the heat shield? It moves it out just enough to get some air flow behind it.

Thanks for the input. It's nice to know that none of you have had any issues. To answer LS4Speeds question: yes I did place the spacers between the heat shield and the TCM. I may try putting larger hard rubber/plastic spacers in place of the metal washers simply to satisfy my paranoia; if it could happen it generally happens to me.

Thanks agian

I'm thinking you have your answer, but in case you need one more to push you over the edge...I have had no issues with mine either, and it's been at least 30k, if not more.
