Default traction issues lol

Heys

I bring my car about once a year to the track to see if i can get better #'s. Last season I had bald good years and managed to pull a best of 14.11 with mods underneath

Mods:
DIY Intake
Vector Motorsports IAT
Exhaust
Shift Kit
Tune (trifecta)
Flipped mm

My cousin who used to drag race regularly with a 71 Cyclone. Entered my car for kicks and pulled 13.9 with my new 255/45 ZR1's which im hoping to get the same #'s

Is there any quick tips i can use to launch this tourque steer of death machine better? Im hoping to get the same #'s as he doesnt even own my car and laid the smack down on me lol. Hes refusing to help me out... guess hes just being a ***** haha

It's all about practice. The more runs I make, the faster I get. Only other things to do is lower your air pressure up front. I've heard of guys going WAY down on it. Oh, and pick a night where there's no humidity.

i got them from a guy on a different GP forumn....i didnt use them when i went to the track yesterday because when i jacked up the car and put them on it looked like they werent on right when i lowered it....there was prolly a 1/4'' gap from the spring to the block....is that supposed to be there?

I hope this isn't a stupid question but: did you heat em up real good! To heat mine up with little or no effort I just dropped mine in 2nd, hold the E brake and hit the accelerator.........

im pretty sure street tires just need to be cleaned off so pretty much just a lil burn out...if you get them too hot they will get greasy....slicks are supposed to be smoked

On heating up the tires:

My experience is the Eagle RSA's that came on the car did not like to be heated up - just a quick spin to clean off dust and pebbles. Actually they did not like lower tire pressure either - 32 PSI better than 26

The Firestone Firehawk GTs I just bought are polar opposite. Only ran them one night so far but they like lower PSI (28 so far, going to try lower next time) and they hooked good after heating 'em up real good.

It really comes down to the rubber compound in the tire as to which way is better.

[threadjack]
Anyone else think it's odd that there's a Mustang add on the bottom banner of this page? If I was Ford, I'd be pissed at Google's choice of advertising strategy. lol

there was alittle gap, aslong as they don't move around i would think its ok. You should be able to push down on your trunk and fell them them limiting travel abit, open your trunk so you can push down hard to see.
