Default GXP Tapshift

How many of yall use your Tapshift? I used to only use it when I want to have alittle fun. But this past weekend I Went up to Ft Gordon, GA. Its 140 miles each way, halft the trip is flat the other is hills (GA Hwy 25). There are small towns and a few traffic lights. Between towns I kept it around 60-65mph both ways. On the way there I left it in Drive and used cruise control till I got to the hills (I got a good foot cruse for the hills) and averaged 26.1MPG. Then on the way back I used the Tapshift the whole way and a couple of times had alittle fun. but kept the same speeds and averaged 29.1MPG

Cant wait till I get my smooth elbow (TB to MAF) in and my 3"DP

As it is I think I could average 30+mpg on the interstate. Before I was luck if I could get 26mpg on the interstate, but that was before the MagnaFlows, K&N, and enlarged air-box opening (and in Drive).

If you want to try to optimize you mpg sometime put the DIC on instant MPG and use TapShift... Plus with MagnaFlows I like to ablity to hear the rumble.... I'm heavily leaning toward getting a cutout and putting it in my Res. delete pipe. So what if I lose alittle ground clearance. IT should be worth the sound!

Thanks to this forum I know my GXP brakes aren't gonna last long (I now have ceramic pads, but same stock rotors) and since my engine and tranny are warranted I feel comfortable using tapshift just about every time I come to a stop. Time it right and I don't have to even touch the brakes. I drop it down to 1st right at 39 and the exhaust sounds great, even though it's stock (minus the resonator). Been doing this since 2007 and all is well so far.

I always use Tap, I drove a manual RX-7 for 3 years before the GXP, my left foot and right hand are extremely bored...

My cutout is where the cat used to be, I figure the best place for it is in the res cavity, though, I may be wrong.

Yeah I'm gonna be ordering my Hogan 3" DP (one that gets welded to factory cat). When I have it put in I'm think I'm getting rid of the Res. and if i do dont know if i was just a pipe or a cutout.

there isnt goin to be any change in gains or noise having it where i do compared to 6 inches up where the res. is since there arent any bends. i got mine from here.

http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GN5002/04EXH/...nd+models.html

they also have a low profile one you could put on the first bend

i would say take the res out and put a cutout in lol...im biased...wth just the res out it is a lil louder but the cutout really makes it sound like a V8

I'm thinking save some money and just do the stock cat 3" DP with the low profile cutout after the res.

right... only have one cut out and have it welded on the same time the DP is. less than $350 for the parts then I dont think the labor should be too much to have both welded on.

i think it was like $70ish for my DP to be welded on....it might be a lil more for the low profile cutout since they will have to cut a hole in the pipe and then weld it up...prolly depends on where you go too....are they going to be able to wire it up for you too? the guys that put mine on just ran the wire through a plug and into the cabin and i had to take it to a car audio store to wire the toggle into the center counsel.

i'm going to wire it myself. My ashtray is already got my bass boost control **** for my kicker amp hidden in there. Not sure where I'm gonna mount the switch yet....

Damn DP, cutout, ported intake and TB, TB spacer. I'm wanting to put more and more money into the GXP but I'm thinking of getting a RWD 2nd car or trade this in for a G8 GT.
