Leaking power steering hose
well this afternoon I checked my car cause this morning I noticed a puddle of oil on the driveway . Found out the power steering hose is leaking . And damn it looks like a bitch to replace! Has anyone replaced the power steering hose on their own?

I haven’t but last year I took the GXP in for it under warranty, and a buddy did his Impala in his garage. The dealer charged me $100, they said the turbo added to labor. My buddy got a piece of hose and 2 hose clamps at Auto Zone for $4.95. He said it was easy and took him 20 min. and he couldn’t stop giggling when he found out what the dealer charged.

Some 05' and 06' GXP owners that live way up north got letters. It's a cooler hose that can rupture in very cold temps. Not a recall, but there were some TSB's issued in October of 06' Check clubgp for a copy of the letter.

Recall on 2006 impalas with power steering leak
Hi!
Recall #09132 covers that problem with the power steering cooler lines bursting. I am a service advisor at a chevy dealer in pittsburgh, and i deal with about 6 of them a day. if you have already paid for the repair, GM will reimburse you directly. Cheers

Its a customer satisfaction campaign, not a traditional recall. Heres what it says:
I just did mine a week before this campaign came out. When you do it on an LS4 car you need to detach every engine/trans mount (besides the upper dog bone) and raise the engine 3 inches. You then remove the rear cradle bolts and lower the rear of the cradle 2-3 inches and that gives you enough room to get the line out. Funny thing was that I found my front engine mount was completely busted in half doing this job, would have not have found this otherwise.
#09132: Customer Satisfaction - Power Steering Hose Leak - (Nov 23, 2009)
Subject: 09132 - Power Steering Hose Leak
Models: 2006 Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo (V6 & V8 Engine)
2005-2006 Pontiac Grand Prix (V8 Engine)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to part availability, this bulletin is being administered in phases. You will be notified as phases are released.
*****THIS PROGRAM IS IN EFFECT UNTIL FEBRUARY 28, 2011.*****
Condition
Certain 2006 model Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo vehicles equipped with a V6 or V8 engine, and 2005 and 2006 model year Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles equipped with a V8 engine may have a condition in which the power steering cooler line may leak or split. When these vehicles are started in cold weather, the pressure on the hose is substantially higher than in warmer weather and may exceed the strength of the power steering hose or clamps. If this were to occur, the driver would likely notice fluid spotting under the vehicle when the vehicle is parked and a decrease in the power steering assist. If enough fluid were lost, damage to the power steering pump could occur.
Correction
Dealers are to replace the power steering hose assembly on vehicles with a V8 engine, or replace a length of hose and clamps on vehicles with a V6 engine.
Vehicles Involved
Involved are certain 2006 model Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo vehicles equipped with a V6 or V8 engine, and 2005 and 2006 model year Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles equipped with a V8 engine, and built within these VIN breakpoints:

hey guys, having an issue with chevy on this one. If any service advisor people could offer advice, it would be appreciated. I live in buffalo, and in late december it was brutally cold, and one saturday i hear the stereing groaning, so i check it, and its bone dry, no fluid. I have it fixed at the pontiac/gmc dealership right by my house as 1)warranty was expired and 2)the chevy dealership where i bought it new is out of business. I got the recall notice from another chevy dealership the 2nd week of feb. Naturally i apply for reimbursement. After some back and forth heres where im at: Some "regional warranty manager" lady called yesterday and says as of now, they cant reimburse me because i didnt get it fixed at a Chevy dealership. Im livid about this. First, the recall was issued in november, so the pontiac dealer should have caught it and not charged me, and second, why did it take from nevrmber to february to notify me, and third who cares if it was a pontiac dealer, it is still GM!!! She said shes going to try to get the chevy dealer that sent the recall notice to me to pay the pontiac dealer so they can reimburse me, but she doent know if they will. Any suggestions?
sorry for the long post

Well today I recieved the letter from GM to get my power steering hose replaced( I little bit to late) I had already replaced it . The letter says I can get reimbursed for it but I threw away the reciept for the power steering hose and the labor was done by a buddy of mine that works at the dealership. What should I do? Replace it again maybe? Or just simply ignore the letter?
