Z06 front brake conversion on GXP
From what I have been told as long as the bore size is the same the pressure in the system should be the same. With that being said as long as the caliper will bolt to the mc knuckle it should work fine. The mc uses a 1" bore as well
Sorry Ive been away for a couple days,I still need to get pics and unfortunately these wont go on until its warmer and no more snow out. Im also gonna be attempting the rear Z06 swap next.
The m/c's are diff GM part numbers but use the same cyl res, so Im not sure what the difference is internally on the two.
Hey GXP25, was your idea of using front GXP brakes on rear was so they matched?

Heres some pics were I modified the mount area on spindle and the area in tape shows where inside ribs need 1/8 machined off if you dont machine down edge of rotor for rubbing issue.And final pic shows why I cant use the 14" Z06 rotor
,no room for custom bracket!
Even if I move caliper down to use bracket it would hit control arm.So right now Im stuck w/ 13" rotor w/ Z06 caliper

The only other thing I forgot about was the brake line to caliper but I dont see that being a prob if they are changed to braided lines

Whats major clearance issues?
I just ground smooth about an 1/8 or so on the flat area,basically just making mounting surface larger. Ill try and get another pic and show area.

As cool as this is i dont see the point. GXP already have 12.7" rotors. and the extra clamping force would be nice but. Not for this price. But im glad we now know we can do it. not trying to flame or anything.
That why I asked about swapping out the rears with a set of our fronts (yes I know the fronts do most of the stopping).

Well this swap started off as goin w/ the 14" rotor but b/c of caliper mounting it wont work w/ custom brackets for calipers.So since I was messing round w/ this I just figured Id try and make something work at least.
Using fronts on the back prob not gonna work b/c of master cyl/prop pressure but Im not sure,would be cool to match though.
