Yes we have one and they do "go Bad". A cheap and easy replacement.

there was a thread on this before with directions on how to do it. it was for a monte though and i cant find it now. im sure theyre in the same location though.

Just did mine Saturday. Pretty filthy at 19,000 and 3 years, appears to be the original.
