Default Daily drive your LS4?

Taking a quick poll as to who daily drives their LS4. I bought mines end May '08 with 16k on the clock; I'm just over 51k now she's been my one and only.. I know I've been spoiled by having decent power always available on a daily basis. That plus decent brakes w/ABS, heated seats, plenty bolstering, big trunk...etc.

Reason I ask is because besides the daily work commute school is 45 miles from home 3x a week. I'm considering getting a 4banger daily driver (like a 99-00 Altima) for better MPG, use 87 octane, cheaper tires that last longer, and not worry about parking far away to avoid dings and what not. I'm just afraid I'll miss all the comforts of the GXP. That and missing the power/ABS to dodge the idiot drivers we have here in the Bay Area.

Me. These are DDs, not race cars.

I live about 5 mins from my school, no real complaints on mileage. But you are right about the parking and the dents...I hate people that can't park.

I daily drive mine. Got it with just under 30k in July, now has 46k.

At school I parked WAY in the back with all the other enthousiast cars. Also made friends with other enthousiasts on campus and we looked after each others stuff.

your going to miss it. I mean think of it..unless your wanting to keep your car low milage or soemthing. The cost of keeping two cars on the road. Gas for both. Upkeep for both. It would be cheaper to just keep the one and be careful with it.

Thats what we do My wife uses it every work day and she drives 22miles 5 days a week.

Definitely right in that they are DD cars and not specialty or race car anything at all and I'm not worried about keeping the miles on it low at all. Gas mileage isn't horrible either, I just got 27mpg on a 320 mile round trip but again that's all highway. Guess I should have mentioned if I do get a 4banger i'd be selling the GXP and getting a regular cab Silvy to slam/cam/boost or juice for the occasional weekend toy.

86K on the dd, bought new 12/23/06 (car was specifically bought as a dd/winter beater). Nobody ever bought a front wheel drive Impala as anything but a dd. Maybe an MC, but never an Impala. They were born to be cheap and plentiful beaters.

Keep mine as a weekend warrior. Too many idiots around here that don't care if they bang your car when opening doors/shopping carts. Built a heated shop so I could keep it in there over the winter.

I never thought of these cars as the weekend warrior type. Mine is definitely my DD, then I have my truck and my firebird as my toys.

I use this as my DD right now but in a year or so it'll be a weekend car. I bought it with 18K and it has 80K on it now.

i use it as one of my toys (the sleeper) I have a cavi, cobalt, and a serria to beat on for daily use lol. These cars a never going to be the best weekend warrior but if you want a fun sleeper they are the right one.. I have a 99 trans am thats in need of a new motor that will hopefully be my street/strip car to go along with my gxp and my 96 f150 off road truck...
