ran a bone stock G8 GT and won???
#23
I recently sold my monte ss for a g8 gt. at low speeds the monte and g8 will probably be even, however after 70 mph, the g8 begins to shine and the monte runs out of breath. most stoplight races are below 80 mph,so yes a driver's race.

I havent gotten mine on the dyno yet, just a street tune and i cant say i've raced a MCSS/GXP/ISS but the seat of the pants feel from my GXP to the G8 the day i traded the GXP and picked up the G8, the G8 felt faster all the way thru. If any of you guys are close to Milwaukee I will load my stock tune, put on my stock intake and settle this! LOL

From your video, it took around 15 seconds after he dropped back at his first-to-second shift. Full throttle for 15 seconds, starting at 20 MPH, plus whatever speed you were at when he fell back is some pretty serious MPH. Which is exactly what I described. I have had 3-4 runs up to the speed limit or slightly beyond (I save my real racing for the track, just my thing) and my first gear pulled G8 GT's every time. Not as severely, but it was clearly happening.

He hit the limiter in 1st in the first run in the video - which killed any momentum he was making. See the nose dive? Watch the second run, not even close lol. In the runs in the video, he was giving me 1/2 carlength and letting me go WOT first also. Now if we ran from a dig, the 1.9 60 foots the G8 gets is an instant advantage. BUT - anything can happen.
We've ran many times, I keep up a little in 1st gear, that's about it.

Good race, and it's cool to see that your not cocky. I test drove a G8, and wasn't all that impressed with its braking and handling. I didn't really get a chance to get on it though.. cause I had my cousin, his g/f and the salesman in the car. With the mods i have now, I'm sure I could give a stock one a run for it's money!
The dealership wanted 38,998 for it btw.

thanks man ^ , i was just surprised on the outcome and wanted to get on here and see if anyone else has raced any. i wasn't sure how these perform in bone stock form. i guess ill call it a kill sense i did beat him but if i meet up with a different one with a better driver it will probably end up different.

All I can say is I came out of a modded GXP and my G8 was quicker seat of the pants all day. Nothing against you or your car but I would say driver error on his part. Maybe he had it in manual mode and shifted early or something. I had just a Vararam and tune on my car and raced a modded 01 bullitt mustang and had him by about half a car. Each race is different and without being at the track with time slips and ****, who knows.
