ok so coming home from work i see a younger guy driving this pretty decent jetta, came up to a stop sign and he got on it a little bit so as were going i pass him at about 75 (cutout open), we come up to another stop sign we turn left and i turn and start out slow at about 15 and i see him in my rear view just starting to go around me, right before i go to hit i her his damn turbo and what happens he pulls 2-3 cars on me up to 100. was a pretty nice looking setup, car looked just about stock from the outside, had one sticker in the back window and appeared to be lowered on some stock looking rims. i thought it was funny, damn light cars and turbos. Anyone else race one of these or know about them??

I was running mid to high 13's in my 03 GTI. PR of 13.6. Any car with a turbo is easily modded because they come so "detuned" from the factory so the avg customer doesnt experience turbo lag and all that. Chip alone puts the 1.8s in the low 14's with a good driver.

You might have gone up against a 20th or anniversary edition with a turbo 1.8 I believe 225 HP stock. They are easy to tune and like all turbod cars alil love and they turn into beasts. My bro has about 250 whp kills my GP GXP every time.

i know a guy that had a GTI and that sucker was fast but at that time i only had the impala lt. he would beat me by 3 car lengths with ease. i have another friend that has a honda civic with a turbo and he beat me the first run by 2 car lengths and the second one i lost by maybe 10 feet (only due to my lack of launch with this SS)

haha there are a lot of show and no go around here but there are also civcs that look stockish running 400 -500 hp N/A, thats right N/A.. I have been reading a lot about the 1.8L turbo and they respond well to mods. The gf is thinking about getting a turbo 1.8L Beetle for a DD and i thought my car was the sleeper.
