I don't doubt it Lew. You do great work.

Just an FYI--

I flashed the updated tune you sent, but I haven't had a chance to log data yet.

Not sure what you did, but throttle response seems improved and the ol' butt-o-meter feels like the car has picked up another 10 HP.

Was this about what you expected?

Talking

$100 for one of Lew's tunes is definitely worth it. I was just saying to him the other day that before installing his tune, I would get about 270 miles per tank cruising on the Thruway (I-90 here in Upstate New York) with the cruise control set to 65 (Diablotune, no-DoD). After the tune, I was able to get 330 miles on my last tank. So, the way I see it, I saved about 2 gallons of gas going (and 2 more coming back) and at $3.20 / gallon, I'm saving about $6.40 per fill-up. By the end of the summer, the savings will easily have paid for the tune.

For what it's worth, obviously, my numbers may not be the same as anyone else's.

absolutely... have done tunes for a bunch of them too...

for the 08 GXP, you'd need a U7194 model Predator, or the Trinity...

man these tunes sound great. i have been wanting a tune for my 08 impala but i have heard that diablo doesnt have a tuner for 08 so i was going to go with hp tuners. but i would rather have a handheld so much easier to use. Do they have a tuner for 08. and does it support trans.

unfortunately, no...

the diablo predator/trinity only support the 06's...

GM changed ecm's between the 06 to 07/08 models... the 06's use the E40 ecm, while the 07's and up use the E67 ecm...

So for an 06 Impala SS which Diablo should I buy and which tune would I need from you?

Sorry I am an LS4 noob. Been LS1 for a long time, decided I wanted some comfort too.

as to why they don't have support for the E67 in those cars, I'm not sure....

you can get either the Diablosport U7191 model Predator, or the Trinity... they both support our cars...

I've had both, well, still do have the Trinity, heh... and the Trinity has a lot more features, better data logging, smaller, mounts to your windshield like a gps unit, easier to use with the color touch screen, etc etc.

here's info about the 7191 predator:
http://diablosport.com/index.php?mod...display&pid=63

and here's info about the Trinity:
http://diablosport.com/index.php?mod...isplay&pid=151

if you buy the predator, you have to remember to also buy the PC Interface Kit - which is the usb/serial cable and power adapter, so that you can connect it up to your PC in order to download recorded data logs, and import/export tune files for custom tuning. The predator does not come with these items.

If you buy the Trinity, you don't have to buy that kit - it is powered by, and transfers data with, a single usb cable, which comes with it.

and if you want to know where to get either one for the best deal/price, PM me...

I am curious to know how the transmission shifts after doing a DIABLEW tune. I know the tcm can compensate so I am thinking the shift quality and timeing will still be similar?

I'm intrested in a Diablew tune as well, and I can't seem to find a definate answer to if it will tune the TCM as well as the ECM, also what are the average power increases?

99% sure Lew's tunes don't touch the TCM.

no... there is currently no tcm support for our vehicles... as for power increases, you'll probably gain about 20+ hp/tq compared to stock...

however, the shifting characteristics do change a little, due to the changes in torque, torque management, and engine load that are made to the engine side of things...

And if people don't have a programmer yet for their vehicle, I would recommend getting the Trinity - it has more features, better data logging, and one of the new updates coming up in the next few months will allow it to tune multiple vehicles at the same time!
