You will never believe...
So i'm dropping off the fiance' back home and i pull up to the light where it's 2 lanes and i get in the right lane..guess what i pull up next to? A subaru STI! I look at him and he looks back at me. He revs his engine and i rev my limited P.O.S lol. The light turns green and we take off..lets just say i worked on my launch and i pulled 2 car lengths on him. We get up to the next light that is more than a 1/4 mile away from the other light we chat it up for a bit and then go our seperate ways. He was stock and I have what is in my signature. Bad driver mod or very very good launch?

He needs a driver mod. STI should be capable of 0-60 under 5 seconds.; I've seen magazines rate them from 4.4 to 4.8 (yes I'm becoming a STI fanboi).
But a win's a win. Congrats.

Definately a bad launch. Most new AWD drivers have a tough time launching. Too much traction + conservative launch = bog especially with a turbo.
That said good kill...who buys a STI and leaves it stock?

I have no idea. Im guessing he probably just got it but the only thing he had was just an aftermarket exhaust. I wouldnt dare try to race another because i might not be so lucky. But a win is a win in the streets

Not too unbelievable...
I had a go at a new 2010 WRX a few months back...
I found myself at the first of 4 stoplights on the way to work. This new WRX with the window sticker still on pulls up on my left at the first one and glances over at me inching forward. Not sure what to make of it, WRX drivers are usually pretty cool about not "racing" but just in case when the light changed I did a quick roll out catching him off guard and jumping 2 car lengths on him. As soon as I realizes he probably wasn't racing then, the next light went red...D'oh!!! I thought "damn, I'm toast now!!!"
He pulled up again determined to kill me. The light changed and not being one to back down I took the bait. His launch was perfect...as was mine. We ran dead even until around 80 when I started to slowly pull him. He was barely in my rear view mirror when we hit 100. I slammed on my brakes...the speed limit was 45...and he flew by me only to be caught at the next light that changed to red.
He again looked like he couldn't believe he was bested by a boring domestic 4 door and went all out when the light changed to green. Unfortunately for him I ripped my best launch ever. I even amazed myself...Damn!!! I never hit it that well. He on the other hand must've screwed his up as I had 3 lengths on him before he got moving (I saw his car leap at his shifts in my rear view mirror as he fruitlessly tried to catch up but remained the same 3 car lengths back).
The forth light came up and he didn't even try again. He looked depressed and determined to just cut his losses. I waved at him...he shrugged his shoulders. We both slowly continued on our ways.
Some definite driver modification would be needed for him, as those new 2009-2010 WRXs are just as fast as the stock STIs if one believes what the magazines say.
As stated before, anything can happen on the streets.

Thats been my experience with STIs too. Turbo AWD you either nail the launch or your bog and wait for it to spool. Good drivers should be in the mid 13's easy. And at the very least smoke any LS4 off the line.
