Why different tire sizes, front and back? I can think of a couple of reasons, but is it recommended and does it really make a difference?

I love my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3,I've had my on since Oct I believe...I live in Cali where we NEVER see rain(except the last 2 days),and the wheather is always nice...Very good grip IMO,I've been wanting to try the KDW's Sears has a mail in rebate on them and the price isn't to bad...

Who has tried the Bridgestone RE760,tread look pretty agressive....
