Default yes another intake question for the gxp! stuck!

hey guys, i think its time to get a actual intake to replace the plastic pvc 45 degree elbow/cone filter set up that my wife currently has....i have narrowed it down to either the cold air inductions or intense fwi, i need some info and help on making the final decission, i dont really care for the k & n to much; seems like a heat trap. and the intense intake seems cheap but still uses the stock rubber elbow off the tb. any help would be greatly appreciated.

current setup that needs to be replaced for obvious reasons lol

I own a K&N and love it. I do not have any experience with the CAI Intake, but I will say that I love the box that it's in LOL. But most people will agree with me when i say get the fwi.

Well, the fwi is cheaper (i think), but you need to do more modifications to it to make it work. I'm sure other people will chime in, but I would say go with the fwi. Or what you can do is just stick with the setup you currently have, and buy a K&N filter???

EDIT...I take that back, ditch your current setup HAHA my bad

I have the Intense FWI and have had it on for about 3 years with no problems. There is an opening that is in the fender and the Intense tubing goes in there and the filter gets attached to the end of the tubing. It is a 15 minute install. You will have to take off the tire and remove the bolts that holds the plastic inner fender on. After you remove the bolts just flap it back and install the filter to the end of the tubing. It flows great and doesn't get as much hot air as the other ones. I also have my HSRK attached it too. Worked out great for me...

Hey Mike, what size drill bit did you use for the HSRK?? I am looking to get one but first I want to know what I need before hand.

I think it was 3/8 bit. Not sure as it was a very long time ago. I purchased some rubber grommets and then slid the sensor into the grommet. They sell various sizes so if you screw up it can be fixed easily. Sorry for the good non-info... lol...

Hello fellow LS4 fanatics. This is my first post and i am glad to be a member. I have a 2006 "bleen" GXP and i have the Cold Air Inductions intake kit. First of all i was very impressed with the product. It shipped in 3 days and the fit and finish is awesome. Installation took about an hour (did not have to remove wheel). The sound it makes when u get on it is very impressive with much better throttle response. Overall i am very pleased with the product and it looks nice!

I like the setup you have. With the FWI, you'll notice more power in traffic but that's about it. You could always make your own box.

I have the CAI, Inc intake and I love it. I feel the aluminum insulated airbox would keep as much heat out of the incoming air as possible. Plus it looks very nice and also seemed to add a few extra horses and a nice sound to the intake. Was easy to install and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it. Matches the nice shiny headers as well.

Phenolic. Looks like wood but is more like plastic and is one of the best materials to use to guard against heat. Racers use this stuff as carb spacers.
