hey guys whatsup I'm currently texting this from camp pendleton ca
I just ordered a hogan catless downpipe..i plan on welding flanges on a piece of pipe and the cat so I can run catless and swap in the cat if I ever need to ( it's required in new york)
anyways..im now looking at catback exhaust systems..my first question is will a 3 inch catback be too much? My understanding is 2.5 is lightly modded and 3 inch is for more heavily modded..
also I was looking at catbacks..from what I've heard magnaflow is too quiet..i was thinking slp which is about 200 dollars less and louder..any suggestions?
and lastly on to the doug thorley headers..are these worth it? I keep seeind mixxed reports on them - some say they gain power , some say they lose some..is there any final word on these ? Thanks
I don't plan to do too much to the car besides exhaust work..cold air intake and maybe rockers..and the diablew tune is all I got planned.

The headers are worth it. I couldn't be more happy with them. 3" will be fine, 2.5" might be but I've never went that route personally. I think 3" will keep velocity up just fine, though.

my next move is the doug thorley headers. i would say just get a slp loudmouth exhaust system and straight pipe it but get a 3 inch down pipe with the magnaflow hi-flow cat. u would be very happy with the sound and performance

My thorleys will be on the way shortly... I am kind of in the same boat as to what to do...
My plan:
For now - Thorley's, no cat, stock exhaust...
Near future - Thorley's no cat and no clue... but something...
Maybe to add to this thread...
1. The word on the street is that you can use a GTP exhaust if you add a hanger...
2. Are there any companies that make a 3" cat-back?
3. For the OP especially, it may be beneficial to just piece it together and have a shop fill in the gaps...
4. Flowmaster FTW! I'm still considering these... I know I know, I'm just old school... lol

94SS it will be pretty loud but hey, these things sound pretty damn good when it has an aftermarket exhaust. I get compliments all the time. A couple times i was asked if i had a big block under the hood or the simple question, "What the hell do you have done to that thing?" I just tell them "oh just a v8" and leave them guessing

How in the hell do you guys get by without running a Cat? It's against federal law (not that I care) and it will fail the emissions test meaning you can't renew your plates. WTF?

when i had the flowmaster 40 series on my impala with out the resonator it sounded good. got compliments on it as well. i dont like magnaflow on these cars..it makes it sound less aggressive in my opinion. now the thrush welded mufflers sound pretty damn good from what i heard on some impalas
